Purpose

Day Nursery - full day care
Meets the needs of full time working parents/carers/families. Flexible hours - open all year. Some are linked to specialist employers. Provide food. Sessions charge hourly rates, expensive. Can use vouchers - over 3‘s are entitled to 15 hours Government funded a week. Birth to school age. Follow the EYFS. They are registered and inspected every year by Ofsted.

Pre-school - Sessional
Term time only. Sessions. 2 years - school age. (10 hours funding available in special circumstances for 2 year olds.) 15 hours voucher funded by Government from the term after the child turns 3 years old. Can pay. Run privately or committee run in a multi-use venue ie village hall. Regulated by Ofsted. Follow the EYFS. …show more content…

Home setting. Flexible, personal home care. Smaller ratio. More affordable. Registered by Ofsted. Follow the EYFS. Can use vouchers or pay. Birth to school age. Childminder is self employed.
Can be a cheaper option for childcare for working parents/carers. Maximum of 6 children under 8 years

    There are many different types of setting which provide care and education for children and families. The main three settings are the statutory sector, voluntary sector and private sector. Statutory sector is a service that by law has to be provided by the government to children and families, for example, St Peters RC Primary School. The opening and closing times is between 8:45-3:10 (depending on before/after school clubs). This school is provided by the state and offer education for children 4-11 years. They have qualified staff and aim to support children though after school activities, extra help in classes if a child needs more support. They work with adults through parents evenings so the parents can meet their child’s teacher, also the parents will have a better understanding where the child is up to e.g. milestones. Workshops so parents can learn what the children are learning in school, this supports both the child and parents as it means the parent can help the child at home.
