Eye Color and Succulent Sizzling Sausages
The roar of the music was thunderous. The drum was thumping like an elephant when charging towards you. The bass tingles through your body, feel it in your blood, rushing around your system. The evening sky was misty, provoking an eerie atmosphere from the opaque sky. The cold breeze on your skin formed goose bumps, becoming ferocious and each goose bumps feeling like tiny daggers piercing your flesh one by one. Big luminous lights are alluring and invite you inside.

The cacophony of differently pitched screams, squeals and squawks pierce your eardrums, though not all of what you can hear is ear splittingly beastly. The cheeky giggles of children and the low pitched laughter of the adults, deafening. Inhaling the aroma, you could feel the succulent sizzling sausages that were drizzled with appetizing sauce, at the back of your throat.

A wide-eyed little girl stared at the overflowing candyfloss, enchanted by the colours and smells. It was run by a balding man with a clammy red face and dull blue eyes who smiled kindly at the awe-struck child. BRRR-WHOOP! The vibrations from the machines explosion quivered and shook the grassy ground. Sweet swirls of pink fluff-like candyfloss danced and swayed in the air, as buzzing children waved their greedy grabbing hands as they gnawed at the free tasty treats.

The crash of the fireworks, exploded and shattered the calm air, neon lights violated the murky black sky. Below the fireworks, a teenage couple stood wrapped in an embrace sharing what seems like their first kiss. The girl, nervous and fluttery, her eyes quickly looking at his before shying away, she subtly smirks as she leans in.... CRASH! The noise explodes from the dodgems as their lips meet in a gently kiss. Cars collide and manic giggles fill the air as people search for their next victims to bump into. Bodies thrown forwards as the collision impacts at full force, shocked faces as their seatbelts dig into their skin. Impatient bystanders watch while they

Charlie Bucket was an ordinary boy, neither stronger, nor faster, nor cleverer than any other child his age. His hair was an ordinary brown, neither too dark nor too light, neither too short nor too long. His eyes were green or they were brown or they were gray or they were blue, for they seemed to be rather undecided about color and changed with Charlie's emotions. He was not too tall (except for his pants) or too short or too heavy, but was perhaps too skinny He was from a poor, but loving family which lived in a tiny ramshackle house in a modest little city that was neither too big nor too small. The little city's claim to fame was the presence of the largest chocolate factory in the world – the Wonka Candy Company. Charlie loved that factory dearly. He loved the lines of its tall, tall smokestacks. He even loved the curves of its protective gates which kept the entire world out, including him. Most of all, he loved the wonderful scents that drifted down from its towering heights. They were the most scrumptious, sweet and soothing scents he had ever smelled. He loved it so dearly that he had made a model of the factory out of broken and warped toothpaste caps which his father brought home from his job as a cap-screwer at a small toothpaste factory.…

Within a few minutes, the sound of sirens rushes across the school parking lot. The heat from the pavement causes the emergency vehicles to waver surreally, as if they're an illusion speeding toward me. I stand numbly next to the wreckage as the firefighters hurry forward to free the lady trapped inside her car. The kid who rolled off the side of the bleachers screams as the paramedics lift him onto a stretcher. His leg is twisted at an odd angle. It's definitely broken.…

Juices drizzled and sizzled from the burgers. The smell of salt and vinegar wafted through the air, as succulent hot dogs were grilled on the barbecue. Children buzzed around like bees pursuing the sweet smelling nectar of popcorn and candy floss as it lingered in the air. Bonfire night favourites, sticky toffee apples and treacle toffee, are being devoured messily, but tasted as sweet as honey. Parents despair as over enthusiastic children scream and shout, only to be tamed by the promise of treats from the eager stall owners. Fluffy animals are dangled everywhere. Delightful squeals echo around the amusements stall, as the game is finally conquered and victory is obtained and the priceless spoils are handed over.…

I drove through the town and the cool drape of dusk gently pulled itself over a cloudless night sky, delicately revealing overborn and neglected stars. And that’s when I saw her. A dismantled peach in her right hand and a smudge-covered iPad in her left, she stood absentmindedly staring into the distance, quietly humming under her breath. I introduced myself to her and her dad, who replied with a bird-like squawk and a firm handshake, respectively. Once her father left I turned to Lauren, who was analyzing me with squinted eyes, and I made the biggest mistake I would make that week: I showed her our schedule. Seemingly harmless at the time, this simple action would be the catalyst for a full blown tropical storm. I pointed out the activities we would be going to: field games, swimming, and a handful of others. But there was only one activity that caught Lauren’s attention. She looked up at me with wide eyes, “Climb tower?!” I grinned, feeling encouraged, “Yes! We’re going to climb the tower!” She giggled, pointing at the tall structure in the distance. And then I said the most soul-crushing word that an impatient, excitable pre-teen girl could hear: “Tomorrow!”. It was as if I had told her the world would burst into flames at noon. A mixture of confusion and intense anger flooded her face. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she slowly opened her mouth, taking a deep breath. Then, the storm hit. Her ear-splitting shriek sent shock-waves through the area. As the other campers watched in horror, she thrashed around on the ground, her tears splashing me like ocean spray. I tried to calm her down, but to no avail. I checked my watch - it had been ten minutes since I had arrived at camp. I took a deep…

They were creaky, covered in cobwebs, but stable. But I couldn't stand the darkness, the feeling of being watched. My head spun at the pictures of monsters on the walls, the huge red X on the bathroom mirror, spraypainted and vivid.
