Pursuing your educational goals by enlisting in the Air Force

We have all seen the recruiting commercials from the Air Force saying if you enlist, they will pay for your college. That was the reason I enlisted, and during the last 4 years I have learned the exact process for pursuing education through the Air Force. In this paper, I plan to simply inform without being persuasive, the step by step process of using military tuition assistance. I will state facts both good about the process, and also the potential road blocks in educational goals that someone could come upon after enlisting.
The first step in the process after making it through a minimum of 8 weeks in boot camp is completing your tech school training. Tech school is training for your assigned job, which depending on what job you’re going for, is between 6 weeks and 1.5 years. Yes, that’s a huge range, and I recommend you find out from your recruiter the length of the tech school for any job that interests you, ahead of time. Mine was 9 months in length.
After completing tech school you go to your first duty station to do your job. Once you get to your station, you will have on the job training that you must certify on before you can begin doing your job. The length of this on job training also varies greatly from one job to another. All of these tasks must be completed before you can apply for tuition assistance and begin working on your degree. For me, I had one of the longer tech schools in the military as well as an additional on job training that took 4 months to complete. By the time I was done with my training I had already completed almost a year and a half of my enlistment. By this time technically, I could have begun taking classes. The problem was I was working 13 hour shifts, 4 days on two days off, and was a newlywed. This did not make it realistic for me to take any classes during that time. This like all things in the

I was back from my first deployment to Iraq with the 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment that lasted fifteen months. Although I had completed my tour there and had accomplished more than many newly turned nineteen year olds I still had an empty space in me I wanted more. I still felt as if I had not accomplished enough. When the deployment was reaching its end I had a talk with one of my section leaders and I remember telling him that I wanted to attend Special Forces Aptitude Selection (SFAS). He like most people didn’t believe me he probably just thought I was like the many people that said things like that to get promoted or into the spotlight. But I meant what I said which although fraught with challenges and ending in…

“The veterans are coming! The veterans are coming!” Edward F. Palm posted his article in September 2008. In Palm’s article, he think it’s good to know that after the soldiers come from war some of the veterans are ready for a post-secondary education by used the G.I. Bill education benefits in order to attend colleges or universities. Palm gives advice to teachers and staff from college and universities on how to treat veterans on campuses. Edward Palm uses personal stories and gives some advice that helps veterans feel confident when they go back to school. Also Palm makes readers believe his credibility by employing pathos and ethos appeal combined in sufficient evidence with friendly and proud tone that creates and affective argument. In fact, this society has started to change since his appeal published. Most parts of his appeals already become facts. I interviewed few people who are working right now at campus strongly supported this cheering discovery.…

As a child, I always admired and respected men and women who served the United States in the Navy and armed forces. These positions required a lot of sacrifice which meant that only the strongest willed of them made it through. That will power seemed to distinguish them from other members of society, they were mentally and physically stronger. When it came time for me to look into applying for colleges, I looked for places that had good engineering programs, top tier educations, and a structured student campus life. Many universities had the former two requirements, however, very few had the latter requirement. While discussing college options with my computer engineering teacher, he recommended I look into the United States Naval Academy…

College is many things to many people. For some it is a time for fun and socialization. For others, it is a time for personal and professional development. In my case, (a husband, a father, and a proud member of the U.S. Navy) college represented an opportunity for both personal and professional development. The purpose of this narrative essay is to examine my decision to earn a college degree, specifically examining my three main reasons (higher earning potential, increased marketability, and development of my critical thinking skills) for deciding to enter college in pursuit of a college degree.…

The prices of college tuition have increased yearly, and not much of an effort is put forth to try to lower the costs. For example, colleges in the state of Pennsylvania have a high tuition. Moravian College’s tuition is about $32,931, and after receipt of grants and scholarships for one year it will be $22,900. East Stroudsburg University’s tuition is about $6,240, and after receipt of grants and scholarships for one year it will be $12,500. I can barely afford Community College, and I know for a fact I wouldn’t be able to afford any of these colleges or universities either. In this essay, I will explain through facts and opinions, why the cost of college tuition should be lowered.…
