The Catcher in the Rye was banned from the school book list between 1966 and 1975. It was banned from schools because it contains vulgarity, violence, and sexual content. Even though high school students are mature enough to handle the adult content that happens throughout, Some still try to ban the book. Books are banned because of the whole book or sometimes for even a single word. Parents try to protect their children from knowing the awful truth of the world, But is it really protecting them? No, children will eventually find out about sex and drinking from a bad influence, that could lead to a more dangerous situation.
