Explain why some creationists do not believe in the big bang theory.
Creationism is commonly recognised as a religion that does not regard the big bang theory or evolution to be true. Creationists are a group of, often evangelical Christians, who have a literal belief in the creation stories of the bible; it teaches that everything in the universes ultimate cause is God. Although it is important to note that there is not just one type of creationist and not just one single belief that is creationism. There are many varieties including progressive creationists, who make a link with bible accounts and the big bang theory, and day age creationists who believe in the Genesis account of creation however state that each of the 6 days of creation in the bible was actually a period of millions of years.
Although progressive creationists make a link between the big band and god, most creationists would reject this view. Dr Russel Humphreys, a young earth creationist, believes “the order is all wrong as well as the timescales.” When it comes to matching bible creation accounts with the big bang. For example, Genesis chapter 1 states that the universe starts with darkness however the big bang theory explains the universe starts with light. Creationists also find a problem with the big bang theory because it states that the whole universe began with a singularity, and creationists claim that scientists can’t determine where this came from, therefore proving a major flaw in the theory.
Another growing belief of creationists is that the universe is only between 6000-10000 years old, and was created by God. On the ground of this belief the big bang theory is not a logical possibility. This particular theory was devised by Philip Gosse and is known as the Omplalos argument. Gosse used the Julian calendar to work backwards, and this lead him to conclude that the universe began on October 23rf 4004BC, and was created by God in 6 days. He stated that although there is evidence such as fossils to suggest that the world is older, these and other

To clarify what's out there to be investigated, Southall begins the handbook in earnest by defining the terms, since ghosts, spirits and poltergeists are not interchangeable and represent quite different phenomena.Ghosts and apparitions are a kind a recording on the environment - a residual energy that can come from a person, animal or even an inanimate object. We can experience these lingering energies by sight, sound, smell and touch. Spirits are what people most often think of as "ghosts." A spirit is the "actual sentient presence, or soul, of an individual or individuals who have remained in the material world after his or her physical body has died." Southall continues by describing different types of spirits and the reasons they may have stayed behind.…

Although the Darwinian evolution theory came out 150 years ago when it was first introduced in On the Origin of Species in 1859, nowadays there are still many people who firmly believe in the creationism, even some who are well educated. In chapter three of River Out of Eden Richard Dawkins brings out this situation and refutes creationism by citing scientific experiments, and finally he points out that gradualism is a principle of the evolution nature world, one that becomes indispensable when one is trying to explain complex phenomena.…

Historic Creationism correlates with my view as a Christian that the Bible is a poetic and historically accurate accounting of how we as humans came to be in this awe- inspiring world while holding to the scientific probability that the earth is billions of years old. Philosophers, theologians and lay people have forever debated creation, and I for one, believe there is room for more than one opinion. No one will know for sure until the day Jesus returns to shed his divine light on all his believers. Only then will the mystery of creation be…

Experiences, circumstances and values shape the way we think, and give us a foundation for what will become our “worldview.” In order to make a decision on what these beliefs are, we can make judgments based on both faith and scientific knowledge. The origin of Progressive Creationism brings lessons from the Bible into balance with evidence from contemporary science. Progressive Creationism makes room for explanations to scientific findings by interpreting a much longer time frame for creation, but it does not negate an God as being present at every stage, and responsible for the miracles of the creation of life. Influences that have led me to consider this position come from family, church, science classes, and my own personal interpretation…

Those who do not agree with or live according to a Biblical viewpoint may believe that the Earth was part of the Big Bang Theory as suggested by Belgian priest, Georges Lemaitre in the 1920’s. (National Geographic) Others may believe in a worldview that is contradictory to itself. Such as the Naturalist who will state that laws of nature created the appearance of design but yet they cannot say where the universe came from. Something cannot come from nothing.…

“There are none who are as deaf as those who do not want to hear,” Barry Leventhal once said this quote (Geisler and Turek). There are so many different creation theories that people have been talking about them for centuries, none have been one hundred percent proven but all are debatable. The problem with most professionals who study creation theories is they are very stubborn. Once somebody has a plausible theory in their head they do not listen to any other theories. This quote by Barry Leventhal perfectly describes this characteristic of the professionals mentioned earlier. They are “deaf” because they refused to hear what others had to say. Many documents were written by these “deaf” professionals about their adopted theory; they…

Moreover, when comparing different theories as the Big Bang with the creation of the earth stories from the different Native American tribes, many similarities and differences come to surface. Most of the Native American stories are based upon the believe of a higher power or a spiritual creator which originally created the world people live in. “Long, long ago, the Creator, the Great Chief Above, made the world. Then he made the animals and the birds and gave them their names.” Even though the Natives are spread out into different tribes, they all have different forms of some sort of a spiritual or magical creator, which developed the earth. The Big Bang Theory, unlike all the native American spiritual stories, is based on a proved hypothesis with concrete information and many explanations, which makes this story or theory an exact fact. “Scientists have discovered what Albert Einstein predicted…

The Bible is accepted by Christians as the world of God, and the word of God is accepted as them as being true, therefore Creationism is true in their eyes. According to the Bible, “Then God said, “And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us… So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female… God looked at everything he had made, and he was very pleased. Evening passed and morning came—that was the sixth day” (Gen. 1:26).…
