Explain Why Kids Should Not Have School Hours
It would be bad idea to add an extra one an half hour because there would be no time for extracurricular activities, older siblings wouldn’t be able to get their younger brother/ or sister off the elementary school bus, and schools would have to provide a snack for the children because it would interfere with families early dinner time. Can the school afford this? It is very important for families to have family time because families should have a strong bond. Also, kids should have time to get out their energy and have fun instead of learning for nine hours a day. Here are my reasons on why the School Board should not change school hours.
My first reason on why we shouldn’t add any more hours is because there would be no time for extracurricular activities. With having no exercise time in the day kids would be wild and hard to get asleep at night, which would be a long day ahead of them.Because normally kids would be worn out after gym or running around playing on the playground. There are many reasons why they should not add hours into the day. We want kids to be able to comprehend and get good grades. If anything the school board should later the morning time so kids won’t be so tired and lazy in the morning. Also, this extend time would interfere with family time, and it’s to long for kids to pay attention and comprehend the data given. Kids are not meant to be still and quiet for nine hours. It’s hard for kids now that have a disability to pay attention for less than eight hours, let alone nine hours. School Board would have to provide time for the kids to exercise, move around, and talk. This is just way too much to change and families are use to the school schedule already, no need to change and cause problems with family time and etc. Lastly, is the School Board willing to pay the teachers more and provide more for the students? Can they afford

Studies have shown that students on the later start time “ had better grades than students that started with a 7:15 a.m. start time”(Erde) This right here seals the deal and should automatically prove that we need to have these times in place and we need them quick for the betterment of our school and our future. And as parents this seems like an even better answer with a more happy kid that is doing better in school because of this change. We need to get out there and make a change in our society that benefits our kids and our future generations by raising the bar and with all of the negative things that go along with these early start times it will be hard to but with this change it will be even more doable and will be…

Therefor I don’t think our school board should add time to each school day. I think we should keep our schedule starting at 7:30 and ending at 2:30. That way we can get home do chores, play and go to any afterschool activities. If we changed our school hours that would interfere with parents/guardians work schedules. Now with the schedules our school has we don’t get to restless with the teachers or other…

Even 30 minute differences help improve students scores from B to B+, or a C to C+. “In the past three years, however, scientific studies have piled up, and they all lead to the same conclusion: a later start time improves learning. And the later the start, the better”(Fischetti). Even studies over the US show that later start times improve grades. “Tiredness and fatigue, however, tend to diminish motivation, particularly for tasks perceived as boring or tedious”(Foster).its the motivation and energy in the kids that era them the good grades. Many benefits would come from moving the start time to a later time. One issue with schools’ early start time is that students become sleep deprived. A teenages normal circadian sleep rhythm is they won’t fall asleep before 11 PM and they some have to be up by 5:00 or 6:00 AM to get ready and to be at school on time (npr). This is causing students to not get the healthy 8-10 hours of sleep that they need.…

If schools started at 9 am they wouldn't get out until around 4 pm, but if schools started at 7:30 am kids could get out of school at 2:30 pm. It would be better if they went earlier and got out earlier because it can give kids time to be productive and do other things that they may need to get done after school. Next, it would be less convenient for the kids to do other activities after school. Let's say you do a sport after school, it would be pretty hard if you got out of school at a…

if jimmy has good grades it makes him look good and the school will look good. so there for i do believe that a later day start would great for everyone. Also i think it would benefit the teachers because then they would have more time to get stuff done and maybe it'd actually allow them to teach better which would also allow the students to learn better and again earn better grades on class work, homework, and test. but however by doing that and getting out a hour later or possibly more then that it will also give teens and kids less time outside during the day when the sun is up to get something's done and pretty much students and teachers would be living in the dark because you'd always be in school during the day. but still for better grades and more…

By doing so, students would be more alert and wanting to learn, and they can become successful. An issue that comes along with changing the high school hours are the diverse amounts of after school activities. With ending school later, these activities would have to end later also. A teenager's natural sleep clock wants to go to bed later anyway, so it would not affect that teenager if he or she gets home late. For intense, a teenager who plays volleyball is used to getting out of practice at 5:30 p.m., instead she would get out at 7:30 p.m.. She would still have time to go home and do homework and other things and would not have to worry about going to bed or waking up early because of her natural sleep clock. With this not being an issue, high schools need to change their hours to being later. Many students would be positively changed mentally and physically if schools adapted to their natural sleep clocks. Students would be a lot more energized and ready to take on the day. In conclusion, there are a variety of benefits for teenagers that come with high school classes…

If we were to change start times we would also have to change the stop time. When the extra-curricular activities go later into the night athletes may get tired during practice. Sarah Mckibben´s article also says ¨⅔ of high school students get less than 7 hours of sleep¨ This may not change for some students with extracurricular activities. The homework would also have to be done later in the night.…

One of the reasons we think the school start time should stay the same is because it will make the time commitment of participating in after school activities more difficult to manage. All of us, like many other students, participate in after school activities. A later school start time will mean that school activities will start later and run even later than they do now. The later in the day it gets, the less energy we have to give 100% effort mentally. We will also be more physically tired which means if…

One reason I think this is that kids go to bed late staying up doing homework or getting back from school events. Kids in our school district are so involved with extra circular activities, which I think is a good thing. We want our kids to be involved, but we also want them to be successful with their school work. My daughter Mariah told me the other night after her far away basketball game…

It will improve the schedule because it will eliminate unneeded electives, sync with other schools schedules, and extend prep hour. It will improve learning by giving the students the ability to ask questions, improve grades, and stay caught up. It will improve productivity by more time to grade and more time to learn. As a East Jordan public school board member, you have the power to overall improve schooling for the students. The 7 hour school schedule does not work. The school board members must change the schedule so there are only 6 classes in one day and only 6 classes for each student's schedule. It is the school board member’s job to make sure that students are getting all the education that they need in the best way possible. It makes the most sense to schedule classes this way. This schedule allows for a better learning experience and a healthier schedule for the student body. So please, for the benefit of the student body, pick the obvious choice, and switch to a 6 hour…
