Research Task 2
C1; Introduction which explains why it is important it is to plan to meet the care and learning needs all children –
In this research task I will explain personally why it is so important to plan effectively in hope to identify all children’s learning needs within the setting they are working in as each child has different needs that must be attended. To see how practitioners are able to identify a child’s development needs by filling out observations on the child so that the practitioner knows exactly what the child is progressing in and what they aren’t progressing so much in. To help promote a child’s learning needs practitioners need to be able to carry out activities involving a way of understanding that the child would

Practitioners should effectively plan activities to give children the opportunity to explore, discover and investigate an activity example could be taken place outside as there is many types of nature that children will find fascinating, from activities such as this the child will gain their personal ‘understanding of the world’. When learning through play this gives the child motivation and potential as they are enjoying what they are doing. From play the child gains the confidence to approach tasks willingly and feel they are able to ‘try’ without the fear of failure. The importance of socialising is so that the child can improve their communication and language but also they are able to learn from their peers and are able to work effectively as a group, children gain the confidence to share their ideas and wishes with trusted people around them and sharing their own ideas and input into the activity giving the child a feeling of importance and knowing they are being listened to improves their

    CYP 3.2 - Promote child and young person Development Children and young people need an environment which is most likely to promote effective and confident child development where they can experience and environment of mutual respect and trust and open communication. We as practitioners need to reflect on our own practice where we can evaluate the contribution we have made to the support of child development and find ways that we can improve our practice. When reflecting on our practice we need to look at the ways in which we communicate with the children and young people such as varying with different methods of communications through a range of activities referring the stages of their development. We do this in our setting by looking at the plans and linking the activity to the EYFS and looking closely to new vocabulary and proposed learning outcomes that we will focus on whilst doing the activity. Good practice would be to evaluate the activity after the week and then look back at what you did or didn’t do such as explain new shapes and positional language in a physical activity. In our setting we will always ask each other, as colleagues, to see if they would like to input anything and just for a little reassurance that you are doing something the correct way and beneficial for the children.     Criteria 1 It is important for practitioners to identify children’s care and learning needs in a setting, there are many reasons for this. Firstly, is to promote development. Some children develop and learn faster than others and it is partly our responsibility to ensure all children’s needs are cared for no matter what stage of development they are at. We can do this by carrying out observations; these help us to identify the exact learning needs of children. They can show us clearly what stage of development each individual child is at, we would compare each child against milestones for that age and stage of development and then we can begin to plan to meet the learning needs of certain children who are not meeting milestones and also plan to accommodate for those children who are over excelling the milestones. Children will develop better if there are adequate numbers of staff/adults present, taking into account the correct staff ratios for each particular age of children. Practitioners should be aware of current frameworks and legislation and how to meet the requirements of those, so it is important to identify how these aim to meet the care and learning needs of all children. The statutory framework in Northern Ireland is The Revised Curriculum from foundation to key stage 4.
