Reasons Australia’s environment is unique far outweighs the insane minimal reasons it is considered not. Australia has the world’s most unique fauna and flora, our landforms are like no other, the geographical perspective on how Australia was formed is unlike any country/continent and finally the natural hazards Australia experiences on a daily basis is unlike the world has seen. Thus it is obvious to say that Australia definitely has the most unique environment in the world.
The first reason I strongly believe Australia is Unique is due to our flora and fauna. As Australia is relatively isolated from the world most of our flora and fauna is nowhere else to be seen except here in the wild. 80% of Australia’s flora is only found in Australia , this is especially impressing as our continent has 24, 000 species compared to England’s measly 1700 native species. Australia’s fauna is spectacular with 71% of native mammals and birds, 88% of native reptiles and 94% of native amphibians which are endemic. Not only that but Australia …show more content…
The most common natural hazards that occur is droughts and bushfires. Due to Australia being one of the most arid lands in the world they are prolonged to droughts, thus the impact it leaves on the environment no other country will experienced. The result of these droughts are land areas become less productive as a result of the topsoil being blown away taking many year to restore into they natural forms. The prolonged droughts usually break into to massive bushfires. These bushfires must be contained as they can reek Havoc to biosphere’s in the area, however a positive is bushfires make soil more fertile with ash and spurring on the opening of seeds encouraging new biosphere to grow. Australia with it’s positives and negatives is what makes this continent’s biosphere
