Snack time at my placement is at 9.30am. The children at my setting all have a story leading up to snack time, whilst a story is being read to the children I help the children to come in pairs to wash their hands in the bathroom. Once the children have all washed their hands they go back into story room and then when the story is over they line up at the door in story room then walk into red room and sit around the tables in there.
Once all are sat down they are each given a piece of fruit, apple, pear and melon. They are also given a drink which can either be water or milk depending on what the child would like.

I collect in the plates and cups and then hand each child a wet wipe in order for them to wipe their hands and face. I then carry the pots from red room up into the kitchen and then load them all into the dishwasher.
P3.6- I used snack time as an opportunity to do an activity by telling all the children about eating healthily and their 5-a-day and how milk is a good thing to drink as it gives them calcium which is good for their bones to make them big and strong. I told them that there is a 5-a-day chart and I printed one off for them so they could see what types of foods come from each section. I then asked them to tell me what their favourite foods are so I could tell them what food category it goes into and whether or not they should eat a lot of it or just a bit.
P3.7- Religion is important when it comes to snack time in the setting because each child could have a different religion which they want to follow or their parents want them to follow. For example some Muslims don’t eat pork. Some Jewish people don’t eat pig meat e.g-
