There have been many challenges while attending the WGU BSN program. Being the father of 3 children and working a full-time job at our local community hospital. I found it difficult to stay on task with my studies due to my other obligations. I had to change my position from a night shift nurse to a day shift in order to have more time to work on my school. Also communicating with my family the need to dedicate time for my schoolwork and projects in order to complete the BSN program. With their support of my new schedule it has allowed me to accomplish the goal of completing the BSN program.

Communication: As a result of completing the BSN program, I have advanced my communications skills. Understanding that active listening is more important than speaking sometimes. After I have assimilated what has been said, I will be better prepared to offer an appropriate response. 4. Evidence-Based Practice: As a registered nurse I have learned how to support my practice by using evidence-based practice and research.
5. Informatics/Technology: Since moving forward from paper charting to computer charting documentation, I have learned to utilize the computer charting to provide safe and high quality care for every patient. 6. Safety and Quality: My emphasis is always on delivering high quality patient care and safety. I provide quality care in order to prevent negative outcomes or harm to my patients. Ensuring that patients have the best possible outcome.
7. Professional/Legal/Ethical: The BSN program has increased my Knowledge regarding ethical, legal, and professional standards. I am more vigilant when it comes to polices and procedures that the hospital has put in place for the safety of the patients.
