Examples Of Tragedy Of Fate In Macbeth
For this assignment I will be describing the story Macbeth, and if it is a tragedy of fate

or a tragedy of characters. Tragedy of fate is the tragic fate of the story that the character can't stop

from happening. While tragedy of character is the tragic conflict, influence between characters. For

example a sorcerer controls a knight him to do evil actions that is Tragedy of Character. An example

for tragedy of fate is a hero is told that he is going to fall, and break his leg while fighting a dragon,

and the hero does. So is Macbeth a tragedy of fate or is it a tragedy of character. I will be trying

to explain, and give examples of tragedy of fate that are in Macbeth. Firstly this example is when

Macbeth and Banquo first encountered the three witches

There is many more examples such as

these because they have characters that act on their own free will, and get manipulated by other

characters. From all of the reading, and thinking I have done I can say that I have come to

the conclusion that the story Macbeth is mainly a tragedy of character rather than a tragedy of fate.

Based off the information that is in the story with Macbeth killing people on his own free will Lady

Macbeth trying to persuade Macbeth to kill someone in the beginning of the story also backs this up.

Although it had some features of tragedy of fate such as the witches when they first meet Macbeth and

Banquo they foretold Macbeth's and Banquo's future they told Macbeth that he will be a king, and they

told Banquo that he will not be a king but his children will be. Later on the Prophesied events become

true Macbeth became a king through some devilish deeds, and Banquo fled with his son, while they

were running murders sent by Macbeth attacked them, Banquo died to protect his son who escape

It is said that fate does not choose it’s own victims, but it’s victims choose their own fate. In the tragedy Hamlet by Shakespeare, it is evident that the tragic hero, Macbeth, chooses his own fate and creates his own downfall. With greed, hubris and mistrust, Macbeth chooses and shapes his own destiny. Macbeth’s greed for power leads to the mistrust of those around him and in the end forms his fatal downfall. If the evil inside Macbeth was not to have overtaken the good, his ending may have concluded otherwise.…

In William Shakespeare's play Macbeth, the reader is left to ponder the question of whether fate or free will is responsible for Macbeth's actions. Some people believe that the three sisters control Macbeth's fate and that he is as much a victim as King Duncan and his grooms, while others believe that Macbeth, alone, is responsible for his actions. Although fate has a part in Macbeth's decisions, the story is a tragedy of character. The witches prophesy that Macbeth will someday be king and Lady Macbeth rouses his hidden aspirations and desires, but it is Macbeth's ambition that gives rise to the poor decisions he makes to fulfill the prophecy.…

Macbeth was told that he was going to be king one day by the witches thinking that was his fate in life , but when it didn’t come quick enough he starts thinking of thoughts of killing Duncan and eventually creating a murderer eventually furthering the notion that fate can change a person’s behavior. According to the Oxford Dictionary, a tragedy is ‘’an event causing great suffering, destruction, and distress, such as a serious accident, crime, or natural catastrophe’’. It is also said that for a play to be considered a tragedy it must follow the three requirements of a tragedy; shock and violence, man of high station falls, and deterioration. MacBeth is considered a tragedy as it meets all these requirements; MacBeth’s ambition drives him to insanity, the murder of King Duncan, and MacBeths death. If it weren’t for MacBeth’s intense ambition, this play wouldn’t have been such a tragedy.…
