Sacrifice is giving up something or someone that is love for the greater good of others or yourself. Everyone knows about sacrifice. Ethos is a form of establishing your credibility to other. Brutus’s use of Ethos far surpasses Antony’s because of how he reminds the crowd how honorable he is and how much more honor he has than Antony. Brutus states, “believe me for mine honour, and have respect to mine honour, that you may believe” (3.2.2-4). This is proves that Brutus compared to Antony has better ethos while Antony’s ethos is “I thrice presented him a kingly crown, Which he thrice refuse; was this ambition” (3.2.24-25). This is stating that Caesar thrice denies the crown but the reason he had done this was to seem less ambitious no matter how ambitious he was which he was very ambitious to be the king of rome. This example of ethos is inferior to Brutus’s because the way Antony uses his form of ethos is to show that Caesar did not deserve this connecting to Caesar more than the people of rome. While Brutus’s statements have personal connections to the crowd way more than Antony’s because of how his example is something that could happen to the them more than just one person.
