Re: Reinstatement of Financial Aid

To Whom this May Concern:

I am again requesting the reinstatement of my Financial Aid (Stafford Loan and/or Pell Grant) to complete my graduation requirements which consist of, 9 hours that I will complete in the Fall of 2009, with a completion of all standards for my degree program in December of 2009. Previously, I was unable to attain satisfactory academic progress which resulted in me exceeding the number of attempted hours that is required for my degree, which was the reason for my first appeal. My first appeal was approved for Summer 2009 and Fall 2009 semesters as long as I didn’t have any unsuccessful attempts (F, W, WF, etc),

I am an international student, so a main finance for my education is from my parents (they have their business in hometown). My parents paid for my whole tuition is around $ 5,550.00 per semester. When I received the scholarship from GPC (before merging to GSU) $ 3,027. 00 per semester because I have good grades (GPA over 3.5), my parents only paid around $ 2,500 per semester and plus $300 per month for reting a room. However, after merging into GSU, I do not have the scholarship any more. My parents have to pay again whole tuition $ 5,550.00 per semester and plus $ 300 rent fee per month. It is a big amount to my parents. Now, my parents' business is not good as before because the economic in Viet Nam is slow down. Furthermore, due to I am an international student, I am only allowed to worked on campus with maximum 20 hours per week. I could not work outside because it is illegal and I need to focus on studying full time at school. With the salary from part time job at school, it is fixed for my daily expenses and textbooks. That is a main reason I am writing this letter to apply this scholarship. I am sure with this scholarship can help me and my parents so much.…

New systems and policies have been instituted by the State Higher Education Executive Officers to make college access and success a national priority. These policies include: Targeting low-income and first-generation students, “overhauling the notoriously complex financial aid system” (627), and developing new information systems. Low-income and first-generation students are statistically the least likely to succeed in college and complete their degree study programs. People who fall into this category are targeted by allocating greater public resources to community colleges and regional four-year institutions, while also providing need-based financial aid. The financial aid system is obviously complex and difficult to understand. One way to create ease of access to this program is to allow data for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid directly transferable from the federal income tax form. Pell Grants should also be slated to students’ basic living needs and not tuition to highlight the responsibility of the states and colleges to provide grants for tuition to low-income students and moderate tuition and fees based on students’ financial status. As for the development of the information system, it better tracks students’ progress and determines whether they are at risk of dropping out.…

Thanks for the financial aid offer of $9,170.00. I appreciate the offer and the faith Georgia Institute of Technology has placed in me by giving me this financial aid award because every dollar helps in bridging the college financing gap. I do realize that the award covers only 18.75% of the total cost ($48, 896.00) of attending Georgia Tech. After the Great Recession of 2008, my parents relocated to India which is why they are not able to support my college tuition expenses. Their software business revenue has dropped to 5% of the pre-recession levels. In addition, the currency exchange rate of USD = INR 65 is quite unfavorable when converting Indian Rupees to US Dollars. My parents lived, worked and paid taxes in US for 24 years, and created local jobs in their software company. My father lived and worked in the Dunwoody area in his early career.…

Reconstruction after the civil war even though worked years later, at the time was a complete failure at the attempt to fix the country. During this time the North while trying to help bring the economy back up in the south tried to fight for the rights of the African Americans in the South as well as to bring rights to the colored. People will argue and try to justify that it was successful because it passed the 3 main amendments of the time (which will be discussed later). Today yes those amendments today have a gigantic effect on the lives of our colored youth. During this time though these amendments meant nothing to the South, their only source of income came from the backs of the slaves. When the North took that income away the South…

My family has helped me tremendously and made many sacrifices to allow me to focus on my education. I now have an opportunity to become the first college graduate in my family. Currently, I am finishing internship training in order to qualify for national licensure exam. The internship is five days a week for two semesters, thus I am unable to work more hours to save money for the tuition fee. After overcoming many obstacles, now I genuinely need the Senior Assist Fund to pay the tuition fee so I can continue my education, and be able to help the community as a clinical laboratory…

I, Kourtney Brooks, am writing to you in hopes that the decision of me being ineligible for financial aid due to not maintaining a cumulative GPA of 2.0 can be appealed due to extenuating circumstances. Entering into the spring semester, due to my performance in the Fall I knew there was a lot of work to be done. In the Fall, after being out of college for a few years I had to get acclimated to working and going to school full time, not to mention online schooling, which is something I hadn’t experienced before, but due to having to work to take care of myself I made the decision to try it because I know in order to truly excel in life I have to further my education. Nonetheless, I went into the spring semester a stronger student due to the mistakes in the semester that instilled the strength and…

I am working less and can study at work, so I think that it helps a lot. If you decide to let me back in I will work harder and seek help sooner in the semester. I feel that if I would have sought help sooner I would have been able to keep up with the information better. I never actually attended UConn as a degree student. Although it is true that I enrolled late in the summer of 2009, it was only for the briefest amount of time. I enrolled late at UConn because unforeseen financial issues in my family made attending the other schools I was accepted into a terrible idea. However, quickly after enrolling I came to the realization that I had no concise plan of action towards a specific degree. I was enrolled in a mishmash of different classes that did not take me towards any direction. Therefore, I decided to drop the courses I was enrolled in, and instead work full time and save money to pay for college on my own. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, some kind of error must have occurred in this process. I thought…
