Remember the titans was about a high school football team who overcomes many obstacles on their way to win the state championship. Hence, racism becomes the main conflict in the movie. The school board forced all school systems to no longer segregate. Consequently, the school was forced to integrate. Surprisingly, Alexandria, Virginia was ready to make drastic changes to their city because racism had occurred for too long. The first encounter occurs when Coach Boone becomes head coach of the football team. Many feel he is chosen to coach the team because every other coach in the state of Virginia is white. Consequently, the football players and the people in the community becomes outraged because of the color of his skin. Also, the community feels the previous coach, is more qualified because of his winning streaks and they believe a white man should coach the
Hence, Coach Boone finally gets the players on the team to unite and learn to work together regardless of the color of their skin. A few of the parents were stubborn and felt it will be a bad look. Consequently, when a few of the black and white teammates went to eat at a restaurant after practice the restaurant owners refuses to serve them because they were accompanied by blacks. Unfortunately, the team becomes sadden by the actions of racist people but they did not let anything stand I the way of their unity on the field. In conclusion, Remember the Titans is a very inspirational movie. The movie not only inspires athletes and coaches it inspires everyone who has ever been faced with racism. Although I am not an athlete I feel it is very important for a team to unite and stay on one accord at all times.
