When capturing the suspect law enforcement officers made several mistakes that could have result in fatalities. A fellow officer was fired upon by colleagues mistakenly due to failure in communication. The officer who was injured arrive on scene in an unmarked car which the other officers mistook for the suspect. During the apprehension of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. an officer fired a shot at the boat without any authorization. The shot fired caused the other officers to also discharge their weapons. Realizing what had occurred was an error a senior officer ordered a ceasefire considering that once Dzhokhar was cornered he committed no action which warranted a mass retaliation by officer. Shortly after that, Dzhokhar was apprehended and later hospitalized after suffering injuries which may have occurred due to that error.
