The key parties of this situation would be Stewart and myself. Even though I think telling Stewart about Waksal is unethical, following Baconivic’s orders and telling her would put her at an advantage because she would be able to sell her ImClone stocks before the rest of the shareholders could. Even though she could use the Waksal information for her advantage, she would be putting herself in jeopardy with the law. Following Baconivic’s orders would also make me look better in front of him and he could possibly help me get a higher positioned job in the future. For myself, if I know telling Stewart is unethical and I still do it, I am going against my own moral values. By doing so, I am complying with Albert Carr’s way of thinking about business and personal ethics being separate. I would be complying with Carr’s thinking because I would be following Baconivic’s orders even though it goes against my own values. If I don’t listen to Baconivic, I could risk losing my job at the company. By doing so, it could put a halt in my career.…

The movie Erin Brockovich is based on actual events involving corporate business knowingly endangering the health of local residents and the environment. This factual event is a great example of capitalism on steroids with no empathy for who are what is destroyed on their path for wealth. The events that unfold show the degenerative break down of ethical values through the business format of Pacific Gas and Electric. PG&E lacked ethical and practical management qualities and took sweeping the dirt under the rug to the extreme.…

In the given scenario there are multiple ethical dilemmas, but I will only focus on three of them in this essay. The first ethical dilemma I noticed is that there is no advanced directive on file. Jamilah the patient only knows Basic English, so she is unable to fully communicate with the physicians regarding her medical care. The physicians are doing what they can to treat her medical conditions without an advanced directive on file but without her history and inability to communicate it, they are struggling.…
Ethical issues are issues of conflict that are resolved within two solutions outside of being ethically the right decision. Within most businesses and social media websites, they both lack trust and integrity. This is proven in, "Facebook Doesn’t Tell Users Everything it Really Knows About Them" written by Julia Angwin, Terry Parris Jr. and Surya Mattu, Pro Publica and ‘I Swear I Will Be Ethical’: Why an Oath is Just a Start" written by Gael O'Brien.…
A: I do not agree that just because a law is legal it may not be ethical or moral. Many laws exist based on societal norms that are legal, such as slavery, bribery (in some countries), or the lack of oversight in some communities that can be harmful, and these examples would prevent me from engaging in such activities.…
Ethics plays an important role in the function of a business. The overall standards of a company often determine the conscious effort and importance of ethical standards. There are various reasons for business ethics that go beyond the invisible line set by most business standards. Competition, security, and safety become compromised by carelessness, neglect, and ethic violations for companies that do not regulate themselves on a regular basis. Conflicts in leadership and a change in rank and procedures are often the end result in a company that has violated business ethics.…

Performance evaluations are important to ensuring all employees are performing as expected, and if not the manager is providing proper feedback. Managers may encounter moral and ethical issues in the process of performance evaluations, and must do his or her best to evaluate fairly each employee. Ethically responsible management practices and social issues can be directly tied to performance evaluations, and managers may even come across legal issues surrounding an evaluation.…
What is an ethical dilemma? When trying to figure the answer the smartest thing to do would be to break down both of the words. Ethical means being in line with what is right and what is wrong. A dilemma is a problem offering two possibilities. So, putting those together, an ethical dilemma is a situation when someone is faced with two options to a situation, neither option is particularly right or wrong. It is usually a conflict that tests your morals. As it says in the book, "When there is no clear right and wrong choice, how to you decide?" Ethical dilemmas vary in size and severity, case to case. An example of a case that isn't very severe would be a coach faced with a star player who is supposed to play in a very important game, the whole…
The structure of company Q is not currently formed to accommodate social responsibility or practice social ethics. Since the business is already in a heavily populated area and had to close down some of the stores due to high crime rates in those areas, maintaining a healthy relationship with the community in the area they are located is essential for the success of the business. The company has started to form a relationship with the community by listening to what the customers want and supplying the demand for those products. However, the chain is carrying all high margin products in all stores which may not suit the needs of those in lower income areas.…
The organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) have been in the news for recent issues regarding animal cruelty. The same activists that had to fight to preserve the habitat of animals, the cruelty in the clothing industry and in medical experiments have been the focus of attention for the way they have handled disposing of dead dogs and cats. This paper will establish the ethical issues, theories, ground rules, and how all apply to the PETA case. What is important to understand in a case like this is leadership has an important role to play. How far will a protector of animals go while hiding unethical practices?…
