Examples Of Environmental Racism
Environmental racism is something that impact people lives in a major way. where you live at can impact you in ways that you can't imagine, and it's not fair that certain people should have to deal with environmental racism because of where they live or how much money they have. The article states “ garbage transfer stations nobody wanted to live near the predominantly black harlem”. Things like garbage clumps and toxic waste sites tend to be located in black and hispanic areas like clewiston.

Environmental racism doesn’t just impact anyone mainly certain areas such as poor neighborhoods. For example the article states “government needs what no one wants maybe a landfill or a refinery that causes pollution”. This example explains because of your race 80 percent of the time landfill is going to be in your neighborhood because your not rich and they don’t care about that part of town. The article also says “in Pensacola a superfund site abuts a play area where most of the children are black”. They are trying to say where most of the black or african american kids are the superfund sites about a play area.

People's lives are impacted in a major way

Inequality means that is a fact or condition of not being equal ;lack of equality. I am going to write about inequality racism because there is to much hate for African Americans and that is not good and to teach people who are racist a lesson. Inequality racism is presented in Schools, Neighborhoods, and at work. In schools students treat African American people like if there are a toy to make fun of. Even the Your neighbors. When they are planning to have an event with all the neighborhood they wont want to invite the African American. Increasing intercultural and interracial communication and collaboration in a globalized world will hasten the end of racism…

Even though racism is and has always been an issue, we don’t often think about all the ways it can affect people of color. One example of this is environmental justice and racism, this is where corporations dump environmentally hazardous or degraded elements, such as toxic waste, pollution and urban decay near low-income or minority communities (Environmental Racism 2012, 1). It’s another unjust way African Americans have been and still continue to be treated. Many families have grown up in danger of being affected by these harmful substances and haven’t had a fair say when it comes to the accumulation of waste proximal to their area. From the early 1920s-1978, more than 80% of Houston's garbage landfills and incinerators have been located…

Environmental racism is a huge probelm and the government is making it seem like the rich countries and more important. “when rich countries can edit the poor out of the most important document on the gravest danger facing Earth”(Source 3:13) This means that noone thats rich is really serious about this situation and could careless about what the poor people and families are going through. “ But, as i wrote recently, there are certain people- particularly those with large concentrations of melanin in their skin, and smaller concentrations of money in the bank- who are suffering more of that fuckery than their less-melanated, more-resoured counterparts” (Source 3:2).”Many rich countries argue that $100 billion a year is an unrealistic demand;”(Source 3:8). Both of these statements show that people and many other families have to struggle because of racial discrimination. It's hard to see that people of color cannot be treated equally because their a different skin…

In 2013, in his official capacity in Center on Race, Poverty, and the Environment stated his disappointment in the implementation of Title IV of the Civil Rights Act, a law that combats discrimination on the basis of race by prohibiting said discrimination by federal money (Desmond-Harris 2013). These concerns date back to decades of continuous concern in the lack of environmental justice, as seen in environmental racism. As Bullard stated in 1999, “environmental racism is just one form of environmental injustice and is reinforced by government, legal, economic, political and military institutions” (1999). Bullard claims EPA “has not always recognized that many government and industry practices have adverse impacts on poor people and people of color” (1999). In 2013, Jenee Desmond-Harris entertained the same thoughts. These attacks to Presidents and the United States, as well as the United States Environmental Policy challenge the claims in support of the work Presidents such as First-President Bush, President Clinton, and President Obama have…

In the end, the destructive after effects of environmental racism is not exclusive to any single country around the world, but it is a global pandemic. "Racism and globalisation come together in the environment, with the phenomenon referred to as 'global environmental racism' - a manifestation of a policy which has found domestic expression in countries like the United States, but which also has a global dimension." Environmental racism is an example to a double standard set by society, where what is acceptable in one community or population is not acceptable whatsoever in other communities. One example would be the environmentally devastating method of extracting natural resources by corporations in developing countries. If such methods were…
