Examples Of Authentic Leadership: Martin Luther King Jr.
An example of someone that demonstrated authentic leadership would be Martin Luther King Jr., a leader of the civil rights movement. I believe Dr. King was a great authentic leader because did what is noble for others and was willing to pay great sacrifice. He was willing to lead from the core theory of himself which was tied to high moral values and beliefs.
The textbook defines authentic leadership as “grounded in the principle found in the familiar adage to thine own self to be true” (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, p. 165). Authentic leadership is leadership that focuses on establishing a leader’s sincerity through honest relationship with supporters which value their input which is built on an ethical foundation.
