Animal cruelty can be described as many different things. There are different ways to identify animal cruelty. Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly("PAWS-People Helping Animals"). Ways you could show cruelty towards an animal would be not feeding it or providing it with water, or even mistreatment of the animal. There are two known acts of animal cruelty: active and passive("Animal Cruelty and Neglect"). Active cruelty is an act of abuse done intentionally to harm the animal. Active cruelty would be any types of abuse including fighting, torturing, beating, blood sport, and confinement. The second act of cruelty is passive. Passive cruelty is a synonym for neglect. Vick was responsible for holding animal fights with his dogs. Vick and his associates operated in a house that Michael Vick had bought himself. There they trained over 50 pit bulls, whom were later thrown into dog fights and betted on. Vick was the found out about and was then found guilty for animal abuse and was sent to jail. A person who commits forms of cruelty or abuse may be charged according to criminal laws, which result in fines and even getting jail time("Animal Cruelty Laws by State | Animal Abuse Felony"). Based on numbers from pet-abuse.com, of 1,880 cruelty cases reported in the media in 2007: 64.5 percent (1,212) involved dogs, (25 percent of these were identified as pit-bull-type breeds), 18 percent (337) involved cats, 25 percent (470) involved other animals("Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics"). There is no specific law against people who commit abuse towards animals. Instead, cases are handled on a state by state basis. It might not seem so, but animal testing is also considered a form of animal cruelty. Rats are not the only animals being tested on. Other tested animals include: rabbits, mice, birds, amphibians, as well as dogs and cats. Around 66,000 dogs and 21,000 cats are subjected to testing every year("Animal Cruelty Facts and Statistics"). Animal testing is not just putting makeup on the animal and seeing if the product works or not, but also subjecting animals to pharmaceutical drugs, carcinogens (a substance capable of causing cancer in living tissue), and it even involves killing pregnant animals and conducting tests on the fetuses. Scientists and adults are not the only people capable of performing animal abuse. Children are also high riskers of being animal

This research is supported by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals; Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, who is now a Pittsburg Steelers quarterback, was convicted of dog fighting. However he was not caught or convicted for seven whole years, which was enough time for him to abuse and kill many dogs. Vick abused his dogs and trained them for the sole purpose of fighting against one another in a pit, and he encouraged them to cause a lot of damage to one another or even kill another canine. Dogs on Vick’s property were penned in small cages or chained to a buried car axle. It is said when the dogs were no longer useful or able to fight they were wet down and electrocuted, hanged, beaten, drowned, shot, or slammed against the ground. Vick is one of many famous people to join the dog fighting world and house underground fights…

Animal abusement is when people hurt animals on purpose. One form of animal abusement is dogfighting. Dogfighting is a gambling sport where two trained and bred dogs, fight to the death in a dirt with surrounding walls of wood. Over 16,000 dogs die per year from dog fighting only. Results can be severe bruising, deep puncture wounds and broken bones says humanesociety.org. Dogs often die of blood loss, shock, dehydration. One former dogfighter said “Miss Rufus spent most of the rest of the fight on her back and Bandit broke her other front leg high up in the shoulder, as well as one of her back legs, in the knee joint. The only leg she didn’t break she chewed all to h*ll. She had literally scalped Miss Rufus, tearing a big chunk of skin off the top of her head alongside one ear." according to humanesociety.org. Also children are present to these fights which is a bad influence to those kids and tells them that it is okay to abuse animals. Illegal drugs and firearms are found being sold at these events and even homicide is happening at these events. Dogs who are training for these fights are baited on running on a treadmill with an animal in a cage, some ears cut off (For other animals to not latch on) , dogs are injected with steroids, and food is injected with roach poison (A way to kill cockroaches) to make him taste…

There are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and Animal Testing is one of them. Doctors,Scientists and other people test on these animals everyday. In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

Cosmetic tests performed on animals include dropping chemicals in the animal’s eyes. Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly. Animal testing is basically that, so, technically, animal testing is animal abuse. Animals should not be experimented on because the testing is somewhat like torture and they are innocent. Although huge developments have been made with animal testing, about 90% of successful animal testing is not successful when used on humans.…

We see animals every day. They are our pets, companions, and, to some, family. They are also our dinner, new jacket or bag, and the pain behind our household products. So when does it qualify as cruel, or even inhumane? What is animal cruelty? According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) “Intentional cruelty, or abuse, is knowingly depriving an animal of food, water, socialization, or veterinary care. Maliciously torturing, maiming, or killing an animal.” Three major examples of animal cruelty today are found in the food industry, shelters, and testing facilities.…

Millions of dogs, cats, bunnies, rodents, and so many more other animals are being used for animal testing. These animals are forced to be in labs and are locked up in cages until they die of the drugs that are inserted inside their bodies. Once the researchers say the drugs are safe humans are taking a risk to be severely ill, hospitalize, or even die. Animal testing for medicine is harmful to both humans and animals because the side effects that occur in the animals are different for humans and the drugs that work on animals fail for humans.…

Within the next 24 hours, approximately 27,000 animals will have died from being tested on. Animal testing involves various forms of lab experimentations and procedures on living creatures such as dogs, pigs, farm animals, and rodents. The tests performed are most commonly used to determine the specific effects of a consumer or industry product such as cosmetics, medicines, and chemicals. Animal testing is extremely inhumane due to the administrations conducted on the animals. They suffer through a wide variety of dangerous chemical and medical exposure, genetic mutation, numerous different forms of surgeries and intentionally inflicted wounds or infectious diseases, and psychological and behavioral experiments. The animals face distress, cognitive issues, excessive amounts of pain and severe injury, and ultimately suffer a cruel…

Animal cruelty is not only the horrific things that are being done to the animals, but it also includes not properly taking care of them. According to an article in the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Debbie Jugan states “Most of the laws against animal cruelty can be summed up in one phrase: common sense. It is simply common sense to take care of the animals we human beings keep captive. They must be provided clean, fresh water on a daily basis. They must be fed a quality diet that meets their nutritional needs. They must be provided adequate shelter, protected from cold and heat, wind, rain and snow. They must…
