Define what Ageism is. What age does it generally begin? Ageism is defined as an issue with people of various ages. It’s a hidden discrimination based on a person’s age. Ageism does not have a general age that it begins. Ageism can be found from young people against older people, older people discriminate against younger people. In general, Ageism give a younger person to generalized an older person as old as dirt.
How ageism in the workplace affects employees?
Ageism in the workplace may affect employee in many ways such as being overlooked to being a team leader, overlooked for promotions, early retirement, and salary increase. The ageism in the workplace tends to result in being terminated from the company because of increases in health

Define individual and institutional discrimination. How do these apply to ageism?
Individual discrimination involves an individual person who is against a certain type of people based on sex, age, race and religion that go against the human right laws. Intuitional discrimination is when a group of individuals or an organization that is discriminatory such as government, banks, schools and any organization. An example of institutional discrimination that we studied earlier on in class was Tuskegee study experiment where the Tuskegee Institute for 40years period studied untreated syphilis in black men not tell them the truth of the study. Both individual and intuitional discrimination can be applied to ageism base on ages and older people who are treated in a negative way.
An example I have encountered in ageism:
The statement “he/she is so old” it too much for them to remember because they are so old. I have encountered this statement on my job by one individual who discriminated based on age. I feel it a matter of opinion and stupidity to be labeling a person
