How did Sigurd’s death compare with Grettir an

-HE GOES A LOT OF GOOD THINGS, BUT HE DID COMMIT BAD DEEDS HE BETRAYED _________

-BEOWULF IS THE PERFECT IDEAL HERO – HITS EVERY POINT OF THE HEROIC CODE

-GRETTIR IS THE BAD IDEAL OF THE HERO

Brynhild -She chose to be burned with Sigurd -She had arranged for Sigurd to be killed. -Exiting the system with the most honor that she can take out
-She worked hard to try to seek revenge, the only way to honorably exit the system
-Her wisdom and prescience is given to a number of characters (its just given to them) and run-magic knowledge is brought by her being a Valkyrie.

-After Sigurd’s death she married Atli: Atila the hun but also Brynhid’s brother
- She does try to exit the system but the waves carry her to shore in another kingdom. - She has to learn to forgive her brothers -there was no social support outside of the family

    The two rulers are very loyal to their kingdom and their subjects. Beowulf quickly “accused himself of breaking God’s law” after the dragon had incinerated Geatland (708-709).
