One possible solution in this situation would be for the director to end the football pool, and only allow the horse betting to take place on one day during the week. The advantages to this solution are that morale in the office could be preserved, and the risk of the director’s activity would be alleviated by his termination of the football pool. The disadvantage to this solution is that the employees are still doing something that may be perceived negatively by the public.…

The goal of this memo is to persuade high school senior, Micah Jackson to join the marines. Former President Ronald Reagan once said "Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem." I briefly spoke to Micah over the phone and set up an interview to come in my office to talk about joining the marines. Micah was very skeptical, however, he did tell me about a few things that were important to him. He also told me about some things that he thought he needed for him to be successful in life. He told me that he wanted to be physically fit, he wanted to travel and he wanted to have financial security and benefits.…

Plaintiff, Elian Gonzalez, a six year old minor, through his “next of friend”, Lazaro Gonzalez, filed an asylum application with the INS (Immigration & Naturalization Service), which was denied. The plaintiff’s then filed a claim in the federal district court which stated the Plaintiff’s due process rights were violated and the INS had overstepped their power in interpreting the statute, 8 U.S.C.A. § 1158 . The Court determined the Plaintiff’s rights had not been violated nor had the INS misused their power and the ruling of the INS was valid. Plaintiff then filed appeal to the Federal Appellate Court.…
