As a teacher/ lecturer, I first organised initial assessment for my learners to test their knowledge of the course and level of literacy and numeracy due to the nature of the course. My class can be a mixture of different learners, some having done the course before and just need to repeat that level and others just starting completely. The information gathered from initially assessment of my learners will be taken into consideration seriously when designing my sessions because not all my learners will be in the same academy level and also how to meet their needs. I will ensure my session is designed in details, recommend necessary books to help and delivered on a timely manner in order for my learners to achieve their goal, to pass the external examination with excellent grade and make progress. In order for teaching to be very effective and also constantly monitoring my learner’s progress, I do organise tutorial for my learners which is mostly treating individual questions on pass topics and also opportunity work with them. They are put in a smaller group which will help them to participate more in class activities, learn from others and improve their confident on the course. The tutorial help me to constantly…

The assessor's role is two fold: to encourage learners to improve and to reinforce the learning that has already taken place. Assessors need to assist learners to recognise what they have already achieved and to highlight what learners may still require in order to improve or progress further. Additionally there are two forms of assessment that differ according to when they are performed: a formative assessment allows an assessor to ascertain a learner's current position or any learning that has already taken place in order to plan for further learning, improvement or development. The formative assessment is the purpose used as feedback to improve the proves of learning when this generally happens during the learning process for example in the classroom an educator assesses a team exercise and intervenes after discovering that some member are being left out, and to make the team functions are better. The teacher marks a piece of work and gives a comment and advice; the child may rewrite the piece of work in response to the teacher’s comments. Teacher’s then use summaries to measure the learning that has taken place though feedback is often in a form of a report to a third party e.g. the head of department or parent. This generally tends to be the final assessment after the learning process and is normally linked to rewards (pass or fails). In the classroom teachers do exam papers end of the year, to see what they remember, the work they have done all through that year. Formative assessment is as much a part of learning as it is part of assessment and the dialogue between the teacher and the learner that takes place during various forms of formative assessment is a vital part of the learning process.…

Both assessments are central portions of the collection of information and allow educators to get a balanced picture of a student’s strengths and weaknesses (Ehringhaus). According to Heritage, Kim, and Vendlinski (2007), formative assessment is a “systematic process to continuously gather evidence about learning and if incorporated into the classroom practice it provides the information needed to adjust teaching and learning while they are happening.” The data is then used to identify a student 's capacity to understand, learn, and adapt lessons to help the student to reach the desired learning goal. In the formative assessment the students are active participants along with their teacher. The student shares their learning goals expressing an understanding on how their learning is progressing in addition to how well the material is being mastered. During the assessment process the student receives feedback which serves two functions: to identify problem areas and to provide positive reinforcement of successful achievement. One of the tools used in the formative assessment, which contributes to the success of the child is the student conference During the conference the pupil sits down with the teacher for a couple of minutes to ensure there is a sufficient level of comprehension with the lesson being taught. Instructor feedback serves to identify the degree to which the…
