Employers do not like to hire ex criminals because of their history, however without a place to live and a way to make a living, many ex criminals fall back into their old lifestyle because it is the only way for them to survive; therefore perpetuating this vicious cycle. If the government invests in these people and help provide them with access to entry level jobs and living quarters, these ex criminals can start contributing to society. The government can also have a case worker check in periodically with these people to make sure they are obeying the law and that they are adjusting to normal life. This investment will pay off in the long run because they will be able to contribute to the economy and continue to contribute to society. Some may say that investing in ex criminals is risky because they may recommit crimes and pose a threat to society, however each case should be carefully reviewed and only if actually viewed as a threat should be kept under close surveillance.
