Evidence In A Guilty Case
After watching the video, I have to say that I am disappointed with the prosecution team. Naturally there are many cases when new evidence would come in after a case would be done and that would take things in a whole new direction and maybe give the guilty party a chance to prove themselves innocent. Thats fair and understandable since the new evidence that came in proves that the person didn’t do the crime. Evidence is always helpful in a trial and both the defense and the prosecution will use it to their advantage as best as they can. But the evidence needs to be actual prove instead of something circumstantial. The defense and prosecution can’t just launch a trail with nothing but theories in for example a murder case. The prosecution can say that a man killed his wife. …show more content…
Naturally for numerous reasons. But where is the prove? The weapon, witnesses, DNA, Background records, search history? If the evidence is real then all of those can lead to a conviction and that would be the end of that. However during the Casey case. The prosecution made a false statement and they didn’t even bother to fix it. The computer analyste did notice that he did make a mistake and told detectives and prosecutors and they didn't listen at all. Every bit of evidence will always help in a case even if it didn’t really work for them. However every honest piece of evidence is important and they should do their jobs as best as they can instead of rushing it and maybe even throwing the wrong person in jail. A sloppy mistake like that can ruin a person's life for a very long time to come and in this business they want to avoid making a mistake like that. Telling the court that they gave false testimonies is 100x better than sending the wrong person to

Every day there are cases with little to no evidence and people going to jail despite the lack of evidence. That very thing happened to Adnan Masud Syed; On February 25, 2000, he was found guilty of the first-degree murder of Hae Min Lee. In January of 1999 Hae’s body was found manhandling strangled in a shallow grave in (name of park) one month after she went missing. Jay Wilds, Syed’s best friend, says he helped Syed dump her dead body but was not there for the murder. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? When it come to the case of Cameron Todd Willingham
I think the community and his own attorney were biased against him they believed that he was guilty of killing his children and that no evidence would sway either way because he came out relatively unharmed did not go back and get them and his children died violently painfully. The evidence that the prosecutor was the arson story that the fire department had told based on their investigations of burn patterns.…

Would evidence have been used in Tom’s case? According to a case dealing with an African American, no it wouldn’t. No one seemed to take into consideration that the man “didn’t match the victim’s description of [her rapist],”(INNOCENT MAN’S EIGHT YEAR PRISON ORDEAL). But this evidence didn’t seem to matter, as they were convinced the man had committed the crime. Yet another case when the victim didn’t identify the man as the criminal. A man “Josh Ryen, attacked by three Caucasian or Latino man [had attacked and robbed him], not one African American [like the one that had been convicted of the crime]” (Wooten). The trail should have waited until Ryen's testimony could be heard. Even after Ryen's statement on who the real criminals were evidence…

Some kinds of evidence rely on honesty and trust. Direct evidence and testimonies both require help of people in the case you are in. Those people can twist the story, make the situation seem better for them, or sometimes they completely lie without a speck of truth. Forensic evidence doesn’t have to rely on truth. The evidence you gain from it has no argument. If you ask them if they committed the crime, they could lie and tell you no.…

The first impression that a juror would perceive of Beth, is that she looks professional. This is due to clothes she is wearing. Another positive of the way Beth presents her evidence is the fact that she makes it clear that she does not know the answer to some questions, such as when she is asked about other forms of synthesis and does not make it up. This is because it shows she knows her limitations, which prevents her from giving false information to the jury. However, this could also be perceived as that she does not have up to date knowledge about the subject of the case which would make her a less credible witness. Another reason why she could be discredited is the fact that she is not fully prepared. This is shown as she spent a lot of time looking through her statement trying to find certain answers and there were long pauses between answers leading to one of the barristers tells her the answer to one of her questions.…

On January 13th 1999, a girl named Hae Min Lee was killed and buried in Leakin Park. Her ex-boyfriend, Adnan Syed, was convicted of this murder case and there are still holes and facts that don’t add up to help the situation. This case was so interesting that a podcast was made to research and try to find an answer. The woman, Sarah, made this podcast and worked on years of research but was unable to come to a final saying on whether or not Adnan was truly innocent or guilty. In my opinion, I feel there is not enough evidence to tell if he is innocent or guilty because of Jay’s story, the call records, and the Nisha call.…

There are several reasons for wrongful convictions. Half of the wrongful convictions can be blamed on police misconduct and other wrongful convictions included false statements and mistaken identity. Wrongful convictions could and should be prevented. One of the most common forms of police misconduct is use of force. We can reduce and eliminate wrongful convictions by punishing police and witnesses who conduct illegal activity and lie on the stand under oath.…
