Movie Review: Every Child is Special

The story is about an 8-year-old boy named Ishaan who cannot cope with the academic demands in school. When his teacher asked him to read the paragraph in the book all the letters are dancing for him. Infuriated, the teacher threw him out of the class and the students who passed by the hall mocked him for being punished. Moreover, Ishaan reversed letters when he wrote and demonstrated a poor understanding of mathematical concepts. He was at the risk of repeating a grade level again because of his poor scholastic performance.
One day, Ishaan began to ignore doing his homework and ditch classes because of his discouragement over his failings. When his teachers advised his parents to avail of special education services, his family decided to send him to a boarding school on the hope that the highly structured environment will straighten out his “behavioral problems”.
Ishaan continued struggling with the same problems in his new school. When he was finally on the brink of deprivation, his art teacher named Nikumbh discovered that he had dyslexia and consequently turned his life around. This movie tells us that we all have a dream. It was also said that all people have talents/skills but we, sometimes, do not have the knowledge that we have inside. For us to discover those talents/skills or to achieve the dream that we want, we need someone who can love and care for us while guiding us to the path we chose. Since we live in the world that full of cruel, racist, and judgmental people, who will, step on our courage, pride, and esteem in the future, we need people who can pull us up when we face the world. It was shown in the movie how words can affect someone’s perspective in life with the help of the people who love us and of course yourself we can make a strong wall against those hurtful words you will hear.
