Evaluation of the Mustang
There are many things we can evaluate. Whether we can evaluate a movie, a society, or just about any object. I’m going to choose a car, but not just any car. My car, the car of America. My car is a Ford Mustang. The Mustang has been a symbol of many things that we all love. The car is fast, beautiful, and strongly built. When I am driving my car it is impossible to feel depressed, or confined. The road is your freedom and all you have to do to achieve that freedom is accelerate.
The Ford Mustang began production in 1964 by the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn Michigan. The car has gone through many changes since 1964 and threw a very large array of variations. Mustangs are own of the most aesthetic muscle cars created to date. Each car is different in the hearts of those blessed enough to own one, and each car is the same in other ways. Mustangs as a whole represent their name they truly are a mustang because of their similarity to the horses know as mustangs. The mustang is strong, powerful, but so smooth as it’s moving across the plains, or highway, and the mustang will grab attention no matter where it goes.

In 1970 Ford created a Mustang better than all others, the Boss 302. One can breakdown what makes up a Mustang into things ranging from a little screw to the entire fender. The easiest way to divide the car into the fewest parts is the body, the chassis, the drivetrain, and the interior. My personal favorite part of the car is the body, because the body is what first attracted me to the car. If one of these components were missing or different than they are the Mustang would either not be the car it was designed to be or not even work at…

I find my position on this subject to be sympathetic. I imbue personality into personal possessions, especially the cars and trucks I have owned, and after a time, I view them as more than just a mode of transportation. This video was targeted at sympathetic consumers. The automobile holds a special place in the hearts of Americas, it represents our freedom, and is often an outward expression of how we view ourselves.…

If you saw our piece on the best American cars of the 1970’s, then you already know the Boss 302 made the list. The 1987 Ford Mustang GT has the same engine mill, so it was bound to make this list also. Although it looked similar to the Mustangs that Ford had been rolling out for the last ten years, the ‘87 models were refreshed with a much-needed aero kit. Other new features were fuel injection (1984) and new cylinder…

The idealized images, the pictures of perfection, are what we usually see in advertisements nowadays. Commercials have become a great part that we encounter in our daily life; as a consequence, we are all affected by the perfect outlook of what showed on mass media. As a case in point, Americans are usually attracted by the greatly designed sport utilities vehicles. These vehicles are usually a symbol of an ideological value through the image of a powerful, break-through tool in order to conquer nature. Nonetheless, the gap between the mythic significance of the SUVs and reality is somehow undeniable. From historical to modern aspects, the legend of SUVs in stunning advertisements are sometimes just a disappointment. The idealized images, however, are often the symbol of how American life is viewed and lived. Thus, the differences between these images of perfection and reality not only illustrate an ambitious dream, but also confusion and the exploitation of historical values.…

I am interested in the appeal of the road, the appeal of the vehicle, the excitement and yet also the depression. So far, I have not found an extensive amount of literary material concentrated on the road movie, so I intend to also look into the history within American studies, concentrating of what the vehicle brought to the individual and how this changed the face of America through literature such as L. M Fanning, Men, Money and automobiles and F. Clymer, Treasury of Early American Automobiles. Other literary sources I wish to look into in order to uncover the meaning behind being on the road is American Literature which also explores this concept such as Jack Kerouac’s On the road and Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Critical literature that relates directly to this topic would be David Laderman, Driving Visions: Exploring the Road Movie and Steven Cohan and Ina Rae Hark ed., The Road Movie…
