Section A- Reflection on Supervising Teacher Report.
Throughout the entirety of my seven week practicum, I was constantly supported by my supervising teacher. I was continually provided with feedback, and if that feedback related to something I needed to work on, I strived to do my best to work on that area, and this was as aspect I was praised on in not only my evaluation report but also my final report. Another characteristic of my teaching that was mentioned throughout my practicum was my behaviour management. I had quite a difficult class for a number of reasons and for the first couple of weeks I really struggled to simultaneously maintain their behaviour as well as teach the full lessons that I had planned. From the first day, my supervising teacher warned me to not try and be the student’s friends and to really be hard and strict on them and she assured me that this will then lead to being respected as a teacher, this was another compliment that was mentioned in my final report, that the students felt respected and that it turn was a great confidence booster for me throughout the prac as I was able to deliver all lessons and maintain the behaviour in my classroom. My knowledge of the student’s in the class and the different ways in which they learnt was another strength of mine that was noted in my programme evaluation. Having this knowledge allowed me to plan lessons that catered to the needs for needs for all the students in the classroom; this also helped improve my teaching and learning strategies, especially for the students who needed more individual help than others.
