There is a need to deliver the message that white privilege exists and perpetuates the unequal treatment of minorities compared to the white population in America. The exigence of the text draws from the urgent need for change for marginalized and minority communities. The relevancy of this issue comes from the many cases and incidents that have occurred regarding race and ethnicity in the past decade. From the slayings of two unarmed African American men, Aston Sterling and Philandro Castile, to the “light” sentence of 6 months in prison for Bruce Turner for rape, it is evident that America has a race and ethnicity issue.
