By moving the camera in a circular motion and in doing so including the camera creates a sense of community. A community in which the people who want to get out are trapped by the commonalities of their environment. This becomes much clearer throughout the film, when Chiron is trapped in his community. The community itself is in desperate need of rejuvenation in order to reform its residents. In addition to this, the 360 camera, allows all three characters to be in shot consequently allowing the audience to feel a part of the shot and observe each character’s point of…

This movement is conveyed through the repeated shots displaying the girls walking or close-ups of their feet. Another camera technique used to great effect, to display the movement of the girls, is the tracking shot. This is where the camera moves with the subject. This effect is used many times throughout the film, particularly in the abduction scene, which is the beginning of all journeys for the girls. The shot assists in communicating the movement of the girls, as the responder is taken on the journey, which builds a greater understanding of the environment and the journey…

The artist’s use of camera angle places the observer almost within this separate world of the little girl. Taken from her eye level, she acts as if she is unaware of the photographer even though it seems we are close to her. This makes one feel as if they are spying on her in a private moment. It effectively creates a lack of connectivity between her and the rest of her surroundings. In a world of her own, so to…

Illegal immigrants in the United States (US) have long been a topic of debate for policymakers and the public. The rationale about them is that they do not pay taxes; they add to the costs of taxpayers and use up funds in resources meant for assisting citizens and legal immigrants (the legal citizens). Therefore, they are perceived as a threat to the US economy. The true impacts of illegal immigrants on the US economy are discussed by debating over the economic benefits as well as economic costs of these immigrants. The negative impacts, discussed first, presented the decreases in low skilled jobs’ wage rates for legal immigrants and citizens instigated by illegal immigrants, the social services such as educations and healthcare that they utilize and add to taxpayers. Then contrary to the negative impacts, the positive impacts reveal benefits of low production costs, increases in the local market sales, undocumented tax generation, impact on growth and employment brought forth by illegal immigrants. These impacts, both negative and positive, are independently analyzed and weighed against each other. The discussion does show a slight net positive impact on the US economy in contrast to the normal belief about illegal immigrants.…

The first example in the film is camera is not a camera. Jeffrey Michael Bays says, "The camera should take on human qualities and roam around playfully looking for something suspicious in the room" (2). He later says, “Without sound, filmmakers had to create ways to tell the story visually in a succession of images and ideas" (2). Like Hitchcock, the director of Despair uses this technique to add suspense as the actress approaches the letter on the table. Using this technique help the build to the major climax of the story.…

The screen turns on as she grabs her phone from her pocket. The excitement of the event proceeds in the background as she momentarily looks away to unlock her phone. Now she rushes to open the camera app. In the couple of seconds this took, she has already missed the highlight of the event. Snap. The picture is taken. Next, the phone is rotated to the landscape view, snap. At this point, she tries to force the camera to focus while viewing the concert through the blurry quality provided by her phone’s camera. The video begins to record. Little does she know, her own eyes provide the best quality. By now, the excitement has ended and she has nothing to remember it by besides what others tell her and what her blurry “electronic memories" show.…

In joining a fraternity, one must undergo the initiation rites better known as hazing. Some dismiss hazing as a parochial issue, to be dealt with only by the universities and academies involved. But in his article “Hazing should concern us all”, Juan Alvin Tiamson submits that it should concern us all. He wrote that by now, hazing particularly the violent kind has invaded most of our institutions. It is now prevalent in schools even in police and military academies. Hazing, as we all know, systematically develops a culture of violence among the youth. Most importantly, the bonds developed by hazing become seeds of corruption. Hazing is hazing whether it results in death, mutilation or years of pain or whether it is done inside or outside the school or institution.…
