1. Analiza la estrategia que Grupo Bimbo ha seguido para expandir sus operaciones a nivel internacional. El grupo Bimbo es una compañía mexicana con operaciones internacionales, teniendo un posicionamiento importante en los mercados de México y Estados Unidos de América. La estrategia que le ha brindado la oportunidad al grupo Bimbo de expandir sus operaciones fuera del mercado de México, es las adquisiciones de empresas que cuentan con operaciones de escala importante en el país que operan. Una de las principales expansiones del grupo Bimbo fue en el año de 1992 cuando inició su dominio del mercado estadounidense, de acuerdo con la visión del jefe en turno de Bimbo, Daniel Servitje Montullel, el mercado estadounidense contaba con un enorme sector de población hispano-americana (alrededor de 28.2 millones de habitantes) la cual tenía conocimiento acerca de la variedad y calidad de los productos de Bimbo. Una importante ganancia de Bimbo fue en enero del 2002 cuando adquirió el conglomerado canadiense George Weston por la cantidad de $610 millones de dólares, esta inversión le permitió a Bimbo incrementar en un 200% sus operaciones americanas. Otras adquisiciones importantes fueron realizadas en el mercado brasileño con la compra de la compañía Plus Vita, empresa que al momento de adquirirla ya ocupaba el 20% del mercado de pan brasileño. Otras adquisiciones importantes se presentan en los países de Argentina, Chile y Colombia lo que ha mejorado substancialmente su cadena de distribución en Sudamérica. Aunado a esto, la estrategia de Bimbo se ha enfocado en aprender de sus operaciones en distintos lugares y fue como se decidió en invertir en la mejora de sus sistemas de administración por lo que en el 2002 se realizó una modernización en sus sistemas valuada en $200 millones de dólares para maximizar las ventas, monitorear las tendencias de sus distintos mercados y mejorar su cadena de valor, enfocándose en una distribución más eficiente.
