After 60 years of Independence where do people of India stand today? We are one of the poorest nations in the world with over 612 million people – that is a staggering 50% of our population – suffering from multidimensional poverty. India stands at 161st position in terms of per capita GDP of the countries of the world. Our per capita GDP is $ 3500. We are behind even war-torn countries like Iraq, whose per capita GDP stands at $ 3800. Qatar has the highest GDP per capita of $ 160,000. USA, in its worst financial condition last year, registered a GDP of around $ 48,000. China has more than double the GDP than ours at $ 7500.After 60 years of Independence where do people of India stand today? In the story of “baseball and the facts of life” There are two sides to the event regarding Brett and his coach. Regarding Brett for his lack of playing time in the field or batting and Brett only plays one inning in each game while also destroying his love for the sport of baseball. He was still very dedicated to his team and tried his hardest the coach still put him in one inning a game which in my mind is very mean because he’ll really won’t get better if he can’t play. The coach’s side however he is very competitive and insensitive toward his players. The coach seemed to only want to win and nothing else and didn’t care for the less skilled players. The coach also never notices the eager look in Brett’s eyes every time he is took out that he is going to be put back in. when the other players are fooling around. Brett is ruthless and competitiveness clearly shows, especially when the coach took Brett right out of the game as one of the better players showed up.…

There were two major historical turning points during this period; Reconstruction and the Industrial Revolution. With the end of the Civil War in 1865 came the Reconstruction Era which lasted until 1877. During this time the federal government attempted to resolve the issues that resulted from the ending of the Civil War. Although physical rebuilding of the region began quickly and rapidly progressed, reconstructing southern society proved to be a much more difficult process. The two major concerns were from the political stand point on how to integrate rebel states back into the nation and from the social stand point on how to integrate 4 million newly freed slaves back into society.…

The Party's control over language can be seen through Winstein's job, slogans, and Newspeak. In George Orwell's novel, 1984, (italicize 1984) the reader is taken to a world controlled fully and solely by the government. The setting takes place in London after a big revolution. The government not only controls every civilian in London, Oceania, but everything they see, eat, read, and even think. People work in different government buildings to help Big Brother with these controlling acts of dictatorship.…

The antagonism of justice and injustice is very important in terms of understanding of social justice and equality. In this respect, King’s idea that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere is absolutely correct. In fact, it is impossible to build up a just society if there is at least one person who is oppressed or discriminated, i.e. who suffers from injustice. In this respect, it is likely that the unjust practice being once applied to an individual will spread soon on other individuals. For instance, a person, who has committed a crime and escaped arrest, feels his or her ability to escape the punishment and commits new crimes to get easy money as long as he or she is not arrested and punished and, thus, the justice is reestablished.…

Sixty five years in the life of an individual is a considerable period, and so is it in the phase of a Nation’s development. Instances are abundant where countries thought perpetually and irrevocably lost everything in the Second World War, rose from the ashes of death and destruction like Phoenix and leads a life of prosperity by the stint of honesty and hard work. Why India, a country blessed with abundant natural resources, bountiful rivers ,wet agricultural land , a vibrant scientific community and a pool of English speaking technical professional remains backward ,devoid of any prosperity among the Comity of Nations? Why a country of One billion is not producing even an Olympic champion? Why India , one of the biggest democracies of the world wherein forty percentage of the people live below BPL (Below Poverty Line) and many of its mothers and children are undernourished? While there are many reasons to celebrate 65 years of India's independence, there are good reasons to introspect as well. The primary cause for concern is the dichotomy that has rendered our nation into two unequal worlds. Only a small number of people have access to the majority of resources while the larger part of our country, with its teeming millions struggle even for one square meal a day.…
