P1 – Describe the purpose and ownership of GSK and Tesco as two different types of businesses.
GlaxoSmithKline(GSK) are a science-led global healthcare company, that researches a range of medicines and brands which are used by millions of people around the world. They started up on 1 January 2001 following the merger of GlaxoWellcome plc and SmithKline Beecham plc In 1865 Mahlon Kline joins Smith and they start to work together to start the business. GSK have 3 primary areas of business in pharmaceuticals that treat diseases (like; infectious diseases, cancer, epilepsy and heart disease). However, they also have other products such as; ribena and lucozade. they have the largest vaccine business in the world, with nearly 900 million doses distributed to 170 countries. Producing adult vaccines to prevent infectious disease including; hepatitis A and B, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough, measles, mumps and rubella, polio and typhoids. Furthermore, GSK encourage their employees to contribute to their local communities, giving then the support they need. Every employee is given one paid day off a year for volunteering. GSK are a public limited company (PLC).

Tesco’s is one of the world’s largest retailers with over 530,000 colleagues, with their headquarters based in chesthunt Hertfordshire England UK. they serve millions of customers a week in their stores and online. With 530,000+ Colleagues, A Tesco store, 12 Countries. Tesco’s create new opportunities for millions of young people around the world. Group trading profit £3,453m (13.0)% (12.3)% – UK £2,272m (8.3)% (8.3)% – Asia £661m (10.3)% (9.8)% – Europe £329m (37.8)% (33.3)% – Tesco Bank £191m (15.1)% (15.1)% £72,363mIn 2012/2013 group sales(inc VAT)* were ££72,363m, they’re also a public limited company.     The Chinese festivals have helped to bring together different Chinese people from different regions. In some celebrations, the main point has been to help young men and women find their mates and, thus, the festivals involve dances, which help to bring together the young men and young women. The ceremonies and festivals in Hong Kong have helped to break the ice from ethnicity. This is because the Chinese people become one during the festivals and, therefore, there is no room for ethnicity.
