Option #1: Some students have a background or story that is so central to their identity that they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story
I am from India and I came to USA 3 years ago with my mom, dad and sister and I started high school in 2011. I finished my 9th grade in India but when I came here I had to do 9th grade all over. I wasn’t able to speak English at all. I was an A student the freshmen and sophomore year and I also had perfect attendance for both years. And then I made some mistakes in my life.
I didn’t know anyone in my freshmen year at school or outside of school, my life was boring. All I did was study or stay home and play video games for the first year. In my sophomore year in December I wanted to go back to India because I missed my friends and my family, so I went to India for 2 months, which affected my grades and I dropped all my grades from A’s to D’s and F’s, when I came back after 2 months(I didn’t want to come back here) and then I decided to have some fun in my life by making some friends and going out which wasn’t a good idea and that affected my attendance and then I thought school was boring, I started skipping which was very ludicrous and affected my grades. I don’t want to say that I made mistake by making friends and had fun because always studying and staying at home which could have resulted me in depression or some other effect on my livings. At that point i wanted to forgo the memories that I had in India with my friends and family, by making friends and going out was the only way to keep my mind away from all the memories back in India.
As I already said I came from India and we didn’t know anyone here, but we had to find a job to get a food, to pay rents and school supplies which was the hardest part of my life. As I also said that I went to India in my sophomore year and then now it was my parents turn to visit India after 1 and half

Throughout my life I have encountered many circumstances that have shaped me into the person I am today. I was born in Moroleon, Guanajuato, Mexico. I attended school in Mexico all the way to second grade. In the summer of 2006 I moved to Cumming, Georgia. It was the hardest thing to do because I left everything that I care the most about. We lived in a trailer which was not the nicest place and in the middle of the forest. I started school at the beginning of August. I had always loved school so I was so excited for the first day. I knew it was going to be hard because I would have to conquer so many obstacles on the way. At this time the only English I knew was probably counting from one to ten and some of the colors. My Father knew some…

In august 2009, I had my first international trip from South Korea to America; Tucson, Arizona. It was actually immigration. At that time, I only knew basic English and used it for survival; I knew only the minimum. I entered a private school, called Desert Christian High School, in my sophomore year. The school’s counselor put me in regular classes and as expected, I fell behind. Math class was fine because it didn’t require reading skills much. However, the rest of the five subjects out of six were problems.…

As I got older and got into high school, things got really ugly my freshman year. Hanging out with the wrong crowd changed my whole perspective on school and how I should apply my knowledge to school work. I can honestly say that my highest grade was probably a C out of the whole year. The beginning of my life changing didn’t take place till my sophomore year when I met my older cousin who decided to be hard on me in school. Part of that was him keeping me into football and other sports he thought I would be good in. It wasn’t till junior year in high school where I really took football…

My adrenaline was rushing; my heart was beating fast as I was walking on the stage to perform at a violin recital. I was really excited and happy that got I to perform my best potential to play a musical instrument. However, at the end of the recital, my happiness and excitement were gone because most of the students either receive “The Best performance Award” or “The Most Improve Award,” but I got neither. My mother said those students were at least two years older than me, so they had more time to practice more than I did. I did not really understand what my mother meant until I read chapter one of the book, “Outliers” written by Malcom Gladwell.…

When I began my senior year of high school, I was tired and unmotivated and chose to give up and not put my full effort into all my school work. I was so excited, my last year of high school. I was always told since I was a freshman that your junior year would be the hardest and the most important because those are the grades that colleges will mostly be looking at and that your senior year would be the easiest because you're mostly taking electives and you only need to focus on you main courses such as economics and english to graduate. When I started school this year I put off all my homework till last minute, I was absent more than usual, my work was sloppy, and I wasn't really participating. I kept thinking that all I need is a 65 in…

“Scouts of Honor” was a video that shocked me to know that the largest youth movement in the country, in which values are treating everyone equally and standing up for what you believe in, would ban gays to be a part of their organization. One in five boys in American are a boy scout. In Petalima, California, troop # 174, a twelve-year-old boy by the name of Steven Cozza started an anti-gay stand by the name of “Scouting for all”. They held petitions and set up stands at local grocery stored. They also went to San Francisco to the gay freedom day to take a stand. Steven chose to do this because of the expulsion of gays from the scouts. The New York City Police Department even opted to help in their efforts when they heard about what Cozza was doing. Cozza spoke about the increased suicide rates of teen who are searching for acceptance and trying to figure out why society is so against the homosexual community. It was justified that a gay man as a leader of a boy-scout troop would in turn be a child molester. Even the Boy Scout Association of America stated that studies show gays are less likely to be child molesters that heterosexuals. In the case against Tim Curry, the Supreme Court ruled that the Boy Scouts of American was a private institution and they could ban gays from their organization if they so desired. The boy-scout handbook teaches you to love everyone, not just certain people. Steven showed this contradiction to Americans at his rallies. Scott Cozza, Steven’s father, was forced to resign at Assistant Scout Master of Steven’s troop because f his involvement in the “Scouting for All” campaign. The banning of homosexuals from the boy scouts defeats the puproses and teachings of the boy scouts morality as a whole. In 1999, James Dale won a court case against the Boy Scouts of America stating that they were a public association and that they couldn’t discriminate on gay members. In 2000, the Supreme Court overruled their decision and stood by…

Back then, I did not really care about school, all I cared about was what thin ages usually want, like my outrageous collection of outfits and accessories. I use to use my parents’ money to buy what I want. I had a weird obsession to fashion. Being a thin age, I usually cause trouble and run from problems. I play with friends and stay outside home late night. I got easily bored staying home. I did not really have any major goals five years ago. I was not really thinking about my future quite yet. I was very outgoing person and I like trying new things like meeting new people. I did not believe in myself, maybe because of the insults my older throw at me. However, when I come to the United States, I started getting being strong-minded. I continued my college luring. My outgoing personality starts getting changed because with my busy life there is no time. I stopped wasting my parents’ money to buy fashionable dress because I start using my money for my need. I have major goals in life now. I started thinking about my future lately to be a bigger person.…
