Essay On Who Am I In The Great Gatsby

Which Character Am I? I believe that I am more of a “Jay Gatsby” type of person. I’m always full of hope but usually nothing ever happens. I’ve been through the whole “In love with someone I can never have”. I don’t earn money through illegal means, but I do try to make as much as possible. I always try to dress as needed for certain events, even when I’m home alone I still try to be presentable. Jay Gatsby is a very optimistic, but also deeply depressed at the same time. I believe everyone goes through that stage of life at some point, but Jay seems to be stretching it out farther than usual. I think it is a day to day thing as one day can be bright and shiny and everything in your world can feel amazing. On the other hand, the next day could be dark and gloomy and certain events can happen which just amplifies everything making it worse than it has ever been. He still refuses to give up even though there is no possible chance of them ever getting back together. His heart aches for her and regrets ever leaving her, but now Gatsby has to live with the fact that she’s never going to be his again. I have been in a similar situation but I have overcome it and moved on to better things. I still keep that hope that forever is real, and all it takes is time to find it.
