Essay On Texting And Driving
Texting and driving has been a huge cause of collisions that result in deaths. Many teens now have better access to a phone and are often snap-chatting and using other means of social media, while still behind the wheel. This is a growing problem across the nation. It puts the teens in the car at risk and everyone around them.

According to the national safety council, about 1.2 million collisions were caused by being on the phone in the year of 2013. Almost 341,000 of those collisions were a result of texting. This means that 1 out of 4 collisions are caused by cell phone usage in a vehicle. This is a staggering number. When teens were asked if they could handle driving while texting, about 51% of them claimed they could. Although they say this, about 21% of fatal teen crashes have resulted due to being on a

Each year they follow the lives of California teens who are in their junior and senior years of high school. In the past few years, they have made PSA videos about texting and driving. One video had a bunch of the cast talking about how they text and drive, then they had a girl who survived a terrible accident due to texting and driving. She lost her parents in the collision. She was able to tell her story to the teens and this video touched many teens. They also have made what seem like accidents due to the cast texting while driving to warn teens against this.

To help with the problem of texting and driving among teens, they should have teachers that are willing to discuss the topic in a classroom setting. They should inform students more about this by incorporating it into a small mini lesson. They could do this with the students who drive to school and have an assembly explaining not just texting but also drinking and driving. We as a society, should work together in informing teens that they can not just simply text and drive. They should be taught that one text is not worth a
