In many opinions, being American means being patriotic, somewhat wealthy, and perhaps obese. There is a lot of stereotypes about being american, and most of them are not true. In America, the majority of people are poor and getting poorer, the rich get richer, and the gap between middle class and upper class is growing more and more every year. 59% of people say that the American Dream has “become impossible to attain for most people”. But what is the American Dream? I think the statement is too broad to poll people on the topic because so many people have so many different views on what the dream actually is. I think for that reason, most people still have an attainable goal, it just depends on how hard those people work for it. In my opinion, most people that say the dream is dead are just soothing themselves because they didn’t achieve it, or they are just making excuses not to work hard.
Some of the cliches that people assume are true about americans couldn’t be more wrong. Many say that americans are all rich and fat, but 29% of Americans live in lower income households, 51% live in middle class households, and only 20% are in the upper class. That just proves that most Americans are “struggling”. Albeit, most of the “struggling” isn’t even close to struggling in places such a 3rd world
