Essay On Song Of The Powers By David Mason
The first poem I chose is Song of the Powers by David Mason. I chose this poem because I find the poem interesting. Plus I like how it rhymes. I also like the message. The whole thing is about people being stuck in a circle trying to get to power but in the end they will be stuck there, alone, and so will you. It uses the game rock, paper, and scissors to explain this. The first six verses is about rock and how it crushes people to get to power. The next six verse is about paper and it use words to get to power. The next six verse is about scissors and how it stabs people in the back to get to power. The last ten verse is connecting it all together. It shows that people tryin to get to power will be alone and so will you even if you stay away. That everyone will died alone in the end. This poem is not perfect. I don’t like the last verse. It feels empty. It make the message a bit unclear. I think something needs to be added or some words need to be change. Other than that …show more content…
This is another old sappy love poem. Though this one is more about love at first sight and not saying goodbye to a love. It’s about innocent love. I like the rhythm of it. It goes with the flow and is easy to say. I think that an awesome thing to have in a poem. The whole poem is describing the girl’s face. Which is why I think it’s about love at first sight. When people fall in love at first sight, they see the eyes and the face first. Though love at first sight might not be real, it’s still beautiful when you read about it. I think poem really capture that feeling. I also like how it was written. When I first read it, I did not think it was a pre-20th century. Plus it’s very detail. There not really anything I don’t like about the poem. I’m sure there are some small things that are wrong with it, but I don’t see it. It is truly a well written poem. This poem is nice and light-hearted. That is all I really have to say about this

The Poems I’ve Chosen is Fire and ice by Robert frost and Part one life CXXXIII by Emily Dickenson the two poems are speaking of the destruction of the mind of a person as if the only blame for there problems is them selfs and there contanes got to them both. Now to begin what Mr. Frost is describing when he says “I hold those who favor fire but if it had to perish twice I think I know enough of hate to say that for destruction of ice is also great and would suffice.” He’s saying he’s been through the destruction of fire before and between the choices of the two hells Fire of Ice either way it goes he’s been through the depths of hell so now he’s challenging the ice as if it’s a greater way of…

The title of the poem, “First Poem for You”, is an evidence that it was the first time she felt secure enough to express her desires in their relationship. This desires and wants are that their relationship should be adorable and long lasting just like his body tattoos. She is able to describe her intense love connection though touch and memory. Her words reveals the desire she has for this tattooed lover. The tattoos are less terrifying than the man, for they are permanent and will never change. Since the beginning of human existence love has earned a meaning of pure bliss and wild passion between two people that cannot be broken. Through out time the meaning of love has had its slight shifts but for the most part, maintains a positive value. In the poem “Love Should Grow Up Like a Wild Iris in the Fields,” the author, Susan Griffin expresses that this long lost concept of love is often concealed by the madness of everyday life and reality. In the poem, Griffin uses many literary elements to help convey the importance of true love. The usage of imagery, symbolism, and other literary techniques really help communicate Griffins’ meaning that love is not joyous and blissful as its ‘s commonly portrayed but often broken by the problems in our everyday lives.…

When I first glimpsed you amidst the crowd, I thought that my eyes had deceived me. Before I laid my eyes upon your charming face, I had never imagined that such beauty could exist in a woman. As I continued to stare at you from across the street, you caught my eye and feelings inside me that I never knew existed bubbled to the surface. A love that was deep, red, and pure engulfed me. Since that encounter, I have dreamt of a day that we would get married, have children, and live a long and happy life. Those happy thoughts flooded my mind, and I was swallowed by the love I had for you.…

Mason's poem divided into four parts is principally about the ironies of power. It teaches a very simple moral lesson--however powerful may one be, the real power is a power of unity. All the powerful entities would have to remain united to exercise their power or make something out of it. On the other hand, if they use their power against each other, they will only end up crushing each other, neutralizing their powers and all of them would have die all alone.…

I chose this poem somewhat at random since I felt that the main point of this assignment was to read a poem and interpret it for ourselves with no influence from others. I think the most disputable, if not confusing, aspect of this poem to me was whom it was addressed to. It sounded to me like it was either self-reflection about what love is, or perhaps more likely advice to another person about love.…
