Racism In America Do you believe racism is still a problem today? Have you ever experienced or witnessed a racist act? Racism is the belief that all members of each race in the world today possess characteristics or abilities that pertain specifically to that race, especially to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Although, some people do not have any issues at all with the concept of racism; majority of people living in America deal with racism in their everyday lives. Racism and discrimination have been used as powerful weapons encouraging fear or hatred of others in times of conflict and even during economic downturns. For example, the president of the United States Barack Obama. They are inferring to us that racial inequalities have been eradicated. White Americans would argue that racism doesn’t exist because “we have a black president.” On the contrary, since Barack Obama has been president, racism appears to have gotten worse. In "Gray Matter, the Stuff That Really Matters", Ben Carson argues that race is an irrelevant concept as of today because he had the materials to reach a higher education and achieve a higher place in social class. He states he doesn't speak about race because he is a neurosurgeon and he operates on human brains which makes up who they actually are in reality. There was little discussion of who Jesus Christ was or his message. "The fact that there is little or nothing describing the physical appearance of Jesus should serve as an indicator of the irrelevance of racial descriptions for someone with such an important mission." In other words in order to thrive in this world we need to look at things from another perspective; see the bigger picture and not let superficial peripheral problems get in our way because that will create barriers between one another and will separate
