Whether you want to create an old-school Jack-O-Lantern or would prefer something new and trendy, there are lots of ideas to inspire you. With just a little bit of creativity, you’ll have a pumpkin that will look fantastic sitting on your front porch to greet trick-or-treaters.

Cookie cutter Pumpkins

Carving pumpkins with a knife is too advanced for some of the younger members of your family. To help your little ones join in on the fun, try using cookie cutters to cut shapes into your pumpkin. After cleaning the seeds out of your pumpkin, pick a large cutter with a fairly simple design, place it on your pumpkin, and use a hammer or mallet to drive the cutter into the pumpkin’s flesh. Tap gently but firmly to avoid breakage.

Give your goldfish or beta something to get excited about this year by creating a temporary habitat out of a pumpkin. Make sure you monitor the pumpkin and the bowl carefully for any signs of spoilage or other problems in order to protect the wellbeing of your

Once dry, cover the entire bumblebee with 1 or 2 more layers of paper mache covering the eyes and stinger so it makes a bumblebee shape. I like to use scrap white paper or paper towel for this layer since it's easier to decorate. Don't let the paper mache be too wet or it may start to soak the project and cause it to crush. A fish has long been seen as the perfect “starter pet”. Parents who are skeptical of their children’s ability to care for a larger animal will often present their offspring with a goldfish before introducing a dog or a cat to the household. While it is true that goldfish do not require quite as much attention as their four-legged counterparts, marine pets are not as easy to raise as everybody seems to think. If a fish is to thrive and survive in your care, you must make sure the water in your aquarium is the right temperature, is free of chlorine, and has a low pH level. Failure to adequately prepare the water for your fish will ultimately lead to their death, likely after several weeks of illness and lethargy. Experienced aquarists may be…

Furthermore, Jack-o-Lanterns were later carved into pumpkins because of the native fruits in North America. Kayla Hertz stated in her article, Original Irish Jack-o-Lanterns Were Truly Terrifying and Made of Turnips, “When the Irish and Scots emigrated to America, bringing the tradition along, they found that pumpkins, native to America, made perfect fruits for carving. Pumpkin Jack-o-Lanterns have been an integral part of Halloween festivities ever since.” This shows that the original Jack-o-Lantern has changed to fit into the natural resources of different lands to specifically pass on the tradition. Also, Jack-o-Lanterns were used as guides for people roaming the streets dressed in a costume on a Gaelic event called Samhain.
