Profession of arms supports the different cultures of the U.S. Army. The importance of the role in Human Resource begins with the Human Resource Sergeant. The Army’s Human Resource Sergeant not only leads its personnel, but also the junior soldiers and civilians to upholding and maintaining the profession values. The Human Resource Sergeant is a true professional, and sets the tone for all subordinates and civilians, working under his or her leadership. Being in a profession can mean different things to different people. The Army as a profession of arms core is meant to be an indicator of trust and expertise. Profession is also prepared to apply knowledge and exercise certain skills in the interest of others. Ethics are fundamental in earning trust of civilians, clients and other subordinates within the ranks. A profession is considered to be more than a hobby or a job. The profession of arms is geared towards commitments and acts of courage, which past and present military personnel portray to this day.
