My Personal Impact of Being Expelled Expulsion: The action of depriving someone of membership in an organization. One may not think school is an organization with a membership but, when expulsion personally affects you, you realize that school is much more than a place where one goes to learn. The past two months I have been able to reflect on my past and the poor choices I have made. Not being able to go to a school to get my education has made me realize how often people take it for granted. Not being in a school has made me part of a statistic that I am not happy to be part of. I have also had to learn how to self-teach myself in order to graduate and heal my reputation. A big concern of mine after I was no longer in school was if I would still graduate. I sent letters of apologies as well as verbal apologies to those impacted by my actions. Maybe my expectations were too high but the responses I received seemed uncaring and non-supportive. Meaning, I need to have enough self-discipline to keep a school schedule and balance my studies with my job and my personal life. Doing my schooling online has been a really big change mostly because now I must teach myself. It is a lot different than sitting in a classroom all day and I find myself much more distracted. I also at times feel like this program is not as rewarding because it is a pass or fail course. I still don’t know how this will affect my GPA or my chances of getting into college.
