Essay On Parent Appreciation Day
When changing from high school life to college life, a person see how much freedom on can have. Though getting away from mom and dad can enthuse excitement, structure and discipline comes into play. Being on the UAM campus has opened my eyes to a wide range of opportunities. This, allows me to become more connected to the school and establish friendships. By getting involved in on campus activities, will help develop leadership skills and discover new fascinations about myself. UAM offers sports, clubs, and cultural possibilities, and orginizations. With regards to this, the four events I have participated in are Rock the Clock, Flag football games, UAM Boll Weevil football games, and Parent Appreciation Day. With that in mind, the one event that I enjoyed most was the Rock the Clock event.
When moving onto the UAM campus, Rock the Clock was one of the many festivities hosted the first week of school. Rock the Clock is an event where students come together to enjoy a night filled with music, food, and fun activities. Prior to my arrival, I was a little nervous about going because I only knew a few people here. But after two of

This year the experience was much more different for me because it was a month into me moving on campus and I was beginning to feel a little homesick. I invited my mom to join me in the festivities and, as usual, we had an awesome time. Before we sat down to eat, we walked around looking at stands that were set up by various sororities, frats, and organizations. While eating we watched the mini parade that featured the UAM band, cheerleaders, and football team. Also, we enjoyed watching the excitement on the little kids faces, when getting their faces painted and getting a balloon made of their favorite characters. Later, we joined everyone to watch the Boll Weevil host the Arkansas Tech. Sadly, they were defeated by Arkansas tech,

As you may remember from your own experiences, the transition from collegiate member to alumna can be a challenge. Sisters scatter far and wide, and the Kappa Kappa Gamma community our collegiate members once felt may seem distant as they begin their adult lives. Holding a graduating senior event for collegiate Kappas in your area is a chance to celebrate their accomplishments and introduce them to the community, network, and benefits of alumna membership.…

    Essay On V-E Day

America faced serious troubles as so many families were affected by the great loss of life during the war effort. In his V-E Day proclamation, President Truman called for every American to join together, regardless of their personal God, in a day of prayer for all those affected. And thanking God for delivering victory over tyranny, in Europe, to the Allied Forces. He also asked that they pray for safety as the war in the pacific still raged on (Obama; “V-E Day”). After Truman’s call to action, we see a resounding answer as Americans rise to give thanks to a God for helping them overcome great adversity. Through the adversities of the Fascist movement and a war fighting said movement, Europe had not seen peace in years. V-E Day, however, would…

Attending the Pride friday at IUPUC before the beginning of school has been one of the most helpful events. By going to this I met some friends and learned more about the school itself. Although I have made the choice not to stay at IUPUC all four years of my college career, being here my first semester has started me off great. During this event they spoke of how we start and end our four years in the same way. I am just glad I have been able to enjoy my first semester by making some new friends, learning new strategies to working and figuring my life out.…

The Lord is a very generous and loving God. We, as followers and believers of Christ, should be thankful for everything He does. Many people in the world are not thankful for all the things the Lord does for them. They tend to complain about their life and worry about what they do not have rather than think about all the things they are privileged to have. People worry too much about who has the best phone, or car, or house, etc. and they do not focus on what is really important, which is their relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. It is very easy to think of all the things we do not have and be unthankful. We can be jealous and covetous. But the hard thing to do is to remember to thank God for everything He has provided for us and for the wonderful life that He has given us.…

One of my most memorable high school experiences took place in a football stadium an hour away from home in the middle of a corn field. It was my Junior year, a Friday night in the middle of October, and in true Ohio fashion, it was raining and barely above freezing. Members of the Spirit Spartans that year convinced my friends and I to attend. The game was incredible; it was back and forth all four quarters and all tied up with thirty seconds left in the game. With the clock running down, a Turpin receiver made a diving one-handed catch in the endzone to win the game. The stands went crazy and that excitement lasted all season, as the Spartans were undefeated in the regular season and lost only to future state champions in the tournament. I wholeheartedly believe that a vital part to the team's success was the student encouragement at games. As an athlete myself, a crowd of spirited classmates at a game can really ignite the team.…

Ughhhh. Parents am I right? They’re always telling us to clean our room, brush our teeth, get our homework done, but should they be able to tell us who and who not to date? Its an interesting question when you look at it from both points of view. As a parent, you want the best for your kids and the old saying goes, parents (or mothers) know best. But as a young adult you want freedom and control of your life. Even after looking at both sides, it’s clear that parents make the best decisions.…

In her article, Jane English proposes a theory that grown children owe nothing to their parents on the basis that the parent-child relationship is one which leans toward friendship and not indebtedness. In this case, Mothers Work Inc., a leading designer, producer, and vendor of maternity clothing, is accused of pregnancy discrimination. Cynthia Papageorge, a former manager at one of the company's stores, said she was fired after the company vice president, Frank Mullay, made a surprise inspection. She claimed that Mullay questioned whether she was capable of doing her job in her "condition". Days later, Mullay allegedly directed Papageorge's supervisor, Jan Dowe, to fire her, who was later also fired for inadequate job performance after taking maternity leave. It is clear to me that despite several laws in place to prevent this particular type of discrimination, Mothers Work Inc. was either blatantly ignoring the law, or…
