Essay On Orthodontic Treatment
Orthodontic treatment is not just for teenagers. It is recommended by the American Academy of Orthodontists for children to have their first visit to an orthodontist at around the age of seven years. This is the age when most children have both baby and adult teeth and the orthodontist can diagnose and correct tooth and jaw issues early to avoid surgery in the future.

Parents may not be able to tell if their child needs orthodontic treatment. Early diagnosis means the orthodontist can:

• Help the permanent teeth grow in straight
• Make space for crowded teeth
• Modify the width of the lower and upper arches
• Avoid the need for extraction of permanent teeth
• Help treat minor speech issues
• Correct thumb sucking

Traditional metal braces are the most common, but they are also the most obvious. This is one reason adults avoid braces, but there are other options that do not show as much. With metal braces, teenagers can opt for colored bands to express their personal style. Most braces have dietary restrictions such as avoiding hard or sticky foods.

Ceramic braces function in the same way as metal braces, but the brackets are made from colored ceramic or plastic that matches the color of your teeth. They are not easy to see, especially in a photograph or from a distance. Ceramic braces are a bit more delicate than metal braces, so you need to be very careful how and what you eat. The light-colored brackets may stain from colored food such as tea, coffee and fruit drinks.

Lingual braces also function in the same way as metal braces, but they are applied to the back of your teeth in the area of your tongue. They cannot be seen from the front, but it may take longer before they feel comfortable. It may also take time to get used to eating and speaking because the tongue is constantly rubbing against
