After I leave the Academy I will be a patrol officer in Mccomb, MS before going to Magnolia, MS to be in the K-9 Division. Here’s a little history on the American Pit Bull Terrior, dating back to late seventeen hundreds, the Pit Bull Terriors were used for bull baiting, hunting, and as family companions. When used as baiting dogs they were trained to latch on to the heads of bulls, bears, and other large animals. This was banned in the early eighteen hundreds and ever since then the notorious dog fighting had begun. Now, dog fighting has been banned and is a felony offense in all fifty states. Many dog breeds have been used for hunting and fighting, and are still used as family dogs today. For example, retrievers, pointers, spaniels, bulldogs and many more. These breeds were created…

They were trained to target horse's hamstrings and therefore could be used against either infantry or cavalry. In an 18-24 month service dog regimen the dog induces more than 90 commands while the veteran reestablishes into civilian life. When the training is finally complete, the service dog will then be placed with veterans with mobility-limiting injuries. Training begins about 3 weeks of age by staff and volunteers, helping to prepare these young dogs to become loving and loyal companions. These service dogs will then live the rest of their lives with and by their new owner. In order to fully train a service dog to be placed with a wounded warrior costs PPH 25,000$. As the dogs mature they will go through the final training step and evaluations. Some of the dogs will be placed with a veteran that has combat related injury while others will go on for “career changes” as therapy dogs, facility dogs to be used as demonstration, or be released to a loving…

They say, “they can learn geometrical relationships and landmarks”(Braithwaite). Another reason is that we haven’t even defined pain for ourselves,…
