The movie Johnny Tremain helped me gain more knowledge about the American Revolution from a different perspective. Johnny Tremain is a work of historical fiction, combining real people and events like Paul Revere, Sons of Liberty, and the Boston Tea Party, and fictional ones like Jonathan Tremain, Priscilla Lapham, and Ephraim Lapham. The fictional characters, although these people did not historically exist, gave me a personal insight to the actual events that occurred such as the Boston Tea Party, and the Battle of Lexington and Concord. These characters gave this film variety and creativity which made me learn more about the real events. Paul Revere was a master silversmith and one of the leaders of the Revolutionary forces in Boston.

She is loyal, selfless, caring, and one of Johnny’s closest friends. In the beginning of the film, Johnny confides a secret with her, saying that he is secretly related to Mr. Lyte. When they are in court, she is brought in as a witness that Johnny did not steal Mr. Lyte’s christening cup. She helped Johnny and gave him advice that helped him become a better man. Ephraim Lapham was Johnny’s master. He was a Boston silversmith and a sincere man. Mr. Lapham attempts to teach Johnny humility by referring to the bible, praying, following the Sabbath (which Johnny disobeys.) He was very kind to Johnny and offered him a place to stay even though he could no longer work for him because of his hand. All of these events and characters played an important role in this film and helped me get a more in depth understanding of the American Revolution from different perspectives.
