Essay On Informative Self Evaluation
Name: Jarren Calizo
Informative Self-Evaluation
Organization
What did you do to ensure that your speech was organized/accessible to the audience?
In my presentation, I provided my audience with simple presentation visuals that clearly exhibit the main points that I were covering. Implementing techniques, such as the 6x6 rule and using few ideas per slide, helped the slides become more understandable to everyone. I also followed organizational patterns to clearly impose each section of our checklists (sections in introduction, body & conclusion).
What could you have done to make your ideas more organized/accessible to the audience?
My ideas could have been better if the font sizes would be a little larger so that the audience can read it more clearly.

The most beneficial thing for me throughout this whole speech was that I had a great interest in the topic that I presented to my classmates. I know that the topic of lucid dreaming would work because not a lot of people truly know what it is and I wanted to learn it myself. It’s a topic where everyone should be able to connect to since we all dream. Wouldn’t it be cool if we all knew how to control dreams that we know we are in? Being fond for my topic really helped me deliver this speech a lot.
What are three specific things you will change next time to improve your speaking? For one, I will change the fact that I use go-to words a lot in presenting to audiences. This includes phrases like “basically”, “I mean”, and “like”. Also, I should make more eye contact with the audience instead of looking at my notes for reference. Finally, I have to practice my presentation in front of a mirror or record myself beforehand because I need to work on my pauses and know my lines without having to bring out any notecards. By doing these three things, it would help my presentation skills in front of audiences a lot and would give me more confidence when

You would start by focusing on your topic to ensure that it conforms to what is being asked of you as a presenter. You now move to further developing the topic. This is truly a creative process as you want to think of ways to make the presentation meaningful, but also have some hooks to keep the audience engaged. For instance, well placed humor is always a good option, however, you never use it as a weapon or to target a person or groups. The use of descriptive and colorful language will help your story flow and allow the audience to fully use their imagination.…

Instead of presenting like any other presentation, I worked with my group to find the best possible approach. I learned that there is more to presenting then just talking. To help our learners I created folders for all of their paperwork. This allowed everything to be organized and save time by only needing to pass out one folder instead of multiple sheets. Knowing that there are many different types of learners we included hands on activities and a note sheet too go along with our presentation. This was to help kinestatic learners as well as those who needed help following along and taking notes. I feel like by adding the folders, activities, and note sheets the presentation was stronger and more…

Self-Assessment I began my writing courses at UCI with Writing 39A. It was a course with a captivating array of ideas, strategies, and knowledge which gave me my first insight into the world of rhetoric. “Diction”, as my professor always emphasized, I learned, is very important to bridge the gap between me as a writer and my audience. It is important to persuade the audience to adopt your point of view or at least for some time help them see the world from through your eyes and this is where diction plays a crucial role in connecting with the audience by “showing” them what you mean. Other things that I learned was the use of literary devices and how an exclamation mark or capitalization can help in portraying an emotion. The ideas of integrating…

Skill 1 Weak skill Verbal communication My first skill is about how I struggle when communicating in verbal presentations. I’m confident when it comes to verbal communication in conversations or interviews. However when being in front on large audiences I find it hard to be as confident. During college I never needed to prepare my own presentation and present them. It was a new experience for me to get into groups or prepare a presentation by myself in front of my peers. I have experienced around 5 presentations now and I feel I am becoming more confident in myself and don’t get as worried when I know I have to do one. However I still feel like it’s a weakness when it comes to my skills and would like develop myself to become clear and confident when doing presentations. An example of how I no I’m doing better in this skill is that my grades have become higher. I feel I’m weak when doing presentations because I experience feeling nervous and forget to say things when I know what I’m talking about, so it comes across unprofessional and weak.…
