Essay On Community Orchestra

Music is the product of inspiration and effort. While inspiration strikes throughout life, the effort required to harness it often remains out of reach. Unless, of course, an outside source of support appears. In the Coachella Valley, this encouragement comes in the form of the Valley Strings Community Orchestra. Within the orchestra, musicians of all ages and skill levels have the opportunity to practice and perform together. Each performance is a uniquely spectacular experience, so I would like to welcome musicians and future audience members to join the fun. Having spent three years in the community orchestra, I have been able to explore everything that it has to offer. That said, what it has to offer is nothing that the average musician would expect. Outside of the usual concerts, we have performed at an odd variety of venues, from posh fundraisers to parades to bicycling events. The Palm Springs Tree Lighting Ceremony remains my favorite, with Santa Claus himself arriving on a sparkling light-laden sleigh during the performance. The community orchestra welcomes the old, the young, those who have not played long and those who have played for years. Whatever skill level, every musician within the orchestra shares the same dedication to both playing well and having fun. And to those who do not play but appreciate the power of music, show your support for programs such as the Valley Strings Community Orchestra. It provides a unique experience to all of its musicians, and it grants a musical outlet for high school musicians that have no other place to go. Many schools within the Valley, such as my own high school, do not have orchestras. With the community’s support, however, we can fix this dilemma.
