Essay On Colonizing South America
America should colonize South America because the American economy will be better off, and it will give America the chance to get more natural resources.

America should colonize South America will increase America’s economy. South America is home to one-quarter of the world’s iron, which was valued at approximately $26.9 billion in 2009 (South America: Resources, N/D). If America has control of one-quarter of the world’s copper they will not have to buy as much from other nations, so America will save money on buying imports of copper. The US will have more money to put into more important things because they have all of South America’s copper. “Marine Fisheries are the most important economic activity along South America Pacific coast” (South America: Resources). America will be able sell or trade the fish that are caught in the Marine Fisheries. By selling the fish that is caught the US will make more money for other things. The US would also have a more variety of food that can be sold to the citizens and or hand out to the citizens that can not afford to buy food. Colonizing South America can help America’s economy but at the same time america will get more resources.

    I believe many of the motivators for the Europeans to move to and colonize North and South America was due to material gain and religious freedom. First I would like to talk about several of the material gains that were either made or expectect to be made in the move to explore North and South America's. When the plans were being set out for the new colonies and the different propels that were laid out some of the ideas that were look at heavily were the material gains. One gain was the level of workload in some areas. It was believed that by moving to the United States that farming living conditins and making a living for themselves would be made much easier. An example of this was the Holland plantation. The settlers of that area could see their lives and the life of their colony decreasing sevearly due to the heavy amount of work required and only made harder by area that they lived in. They finially made the decision to leave Holland for the United States after seeing that a lot of their children were becoming decrepid at a young age because they had to take on their own work load but also that of their parents which was too much of a burden for most of them to handle.
