My essay consists of information about the Canadian Confederation. I included facts with references on my bibliography. On my essay it includes the conferences that happened in establishing the Canadian Conference. I added positive effect of the Canadian confederation and the problems colonies were facing before the Canadian Confederacy was held. Also a conclusion paragraph which includes some of my opinions and why I think it was a good thing that the Canadian confederation was held.

Reasons why confederation was established, the leaders believed that it was the best solution which it was. Let’s look at the political causes in the country at that time, provinces did not run smoothly. There was rebellion happening in Lower Canada and Upper Canada. In Lower Canada which was led by Louis Joseph Papineau and his Patriots , they wanted a responsible government. They challenged the people in power because of how the revenues were raised in the colony and how it was spent. Also there democratic demand was solely rejected. In Upper Canada which was led by William Lyon Mackenzie, they did not like the idea of having land grants that favoured settlers from Britain. The fact that we are a large nation with abounding benefits not only that it helped the economy, the confederation has a positive effect politically as well. By colonies joining together we could trade amongst ourselves. And if colonies grew it would mean building railroads and roads which would be costly by joining colonies, it would also imply having more taxes and more money to pay for debt. Also a new system of decision making was made with one central and provincial government to deal with local issues and by doing so it would make colonies unwavering and a lot more
